Good resolution and frame rate are essential.  Usability problems with
instructional video will block learning [1].  720p HD is a good
minimum.  You cannot easily use 720p HD on an XO-1 without degrading
frame rate.

Where instructional video is a requirement, please contact OLPC with
your next request for tender.

Hello,

My name is Love Mehta and I am a sophomore in Computer Science and
Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology - Ropar.

I am quite comfortable with programming in C, C++, JAVA,  HTML, CSS,
Javascript, Perl, MATLAB.


I have been working in the Tux Math community from a while. I am developing
games in the phaser.io framework used by the Tux Math community to build
educational web games based on the Cambridge Brain Sciences Inc. website
(link - http://www.cambridgebrainsciences.com/).


I came to know about the Google Summer of Code Program recently and am very
excited to participate. I find the work done by the Sugar Labs Community
interesting and want to contribute in the community.


For the GSoC project I think I can develop similar web based Math Games as
stated in the project under Sugar Activities(and Ports) Section on the
Ideas page of Sugar Labs (http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Summer_of_Code/2016).


Please help me with getting started. Can anybody enlighten me more on the
expectations from the project.

Hi Utakarsh,

I am not familiar with Richa's project, however maybe you could look into
surfacing the WebInspector provided by webkitgtk+ in your ui?  It is a
pretty standard web inspector, and is used by Epiphany (GNOME Web) and
Safari.  See the WebKit2 api for this [1].

Maybe another feature to evaluate is annotations?   Browse currently has
the consept of bookmarking (adding a site to the bottom bar) and saving it
in the journal.  However it could be very helpful for researching users to
be able to annotate the page and save that in the bookmark.  The Microsoft
Edge browser has a similar feature, although doesn't intergrate with their
bookmarking system (which is very different from ours anyway) and seems to
rely on annotating a png screenshot of the webpage rather than the actual
page.

Indeed, that's precisely what SFConservancy.org explained...Scalia's

notwithstanding: as Walter has explained in the past, the spirit of the
$120,000 TripAdvisor Grant was to have 50% dedicated to Turtle Art and 50%
dedicated to translation -- but adjustments can be made en route where

 I'm striking out on my own here, but I don't think we want to pay for
things that volunteers will do if we are doing our job as a project.
Payment should be reserved for areas where there are substantial
barriers that could be overcome with just a little grease on the
wheels.  What do I mean by this?  I would not want to see us pay for
Spanish or French strings, but I might be very happy to hear that the
SLOBS have dedicated funds to speed up Awajun or start Shipibo-Conibo
L10n (if proposed).

To a certain extent, part of that calculation also includes a "target
audience" of users waiting and people willing to get the work to them
in already being in pace (e.g. Peruvian and Mexican indigenous
languages even potentially smaller ones, the more widely used native
languages of Oceania and Africa (e.g. Madaqascar), Haitian Kreyol,
etc., might be good investments whereas Klingon or Esperanto mig

Sebastian Silva (your husband) is on an ad hoc 11-person committee Tony
Anderson has very admirably pulled together to try to answer exactly these
kinds questions.  If you can offer him/all suggestions that would help.
The TripAdvisor grant represents fully fungible Sugar Labs funds, according
to SFC Exec Director Karen Sandler, and as such it's up to Sugar Labs
Oversight Board to spend in keeping with the spirit and original intent
(Scalia notwithstanding ;) of the original proposal.

Progress is being made, and I'm hoping Tony and Chris Leonard especially
(the true expert here) can pull together a proposal and/or translation
coordinator roles+responsibilities job description (or some such) to vote
on during to our March 4th board meeting.  In any case, hopefully a
small/rough draft will be published off of this link this wkd or in coming
days, or weeks at the latest:

Hi,

Last year Richa was involved in the JavaScript Interactive Shell project,
which I guess was successfully completed.As far as I remember it pretty
much was on the tracks of Tony's idea of the generic toolbar button ,
though it only had three options in totality Save file,Open file and Open
Web console.I would really like to continue on this project with the other
features enhancing the browse.
