[Sugar-devel] GSoC Aspirant

2016-03-11 Thread Nitin Jain
Hi,
This is Nitin Jain, a sophomore from IIT Roorkee, India.
I went through the ideas page and loved the idea "Git Backend" and am quite
interested to work on this project under GSoC this summer.

I have a good knowledge of Python and PYGTK (related to the project) as
well as of PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS and Java. I also have a good
understanding of Version Control Systems. I feel that I fulfill the
pre-requisites for this project.

I have also gained practical experience in developing institute level
applications being a part of Information Management Group, IIT Roorkee
which is responsible for development and maintenance of various intranet
web apps as well as the official website of IITR.

Regarding the GSoC idea, I have been experiencing problems with my trac
account as my email is not getting verified even after being put into the
unmoderated section by Mr. Walter.
I wanted to know if there's anything to work around from that. Also it
would be really helpful if I could have a discussion with the mentor
regarding the project so that I can draft a proposal for review.

Thanks beforehand.

I've take a quick look. Haven't gotten it to launch yet. Seems to be a
media player, of which we have others.

[Sugar-devel] Watch Listen

2016-03-11 Thread Chris Leonard
What does anyone remember about this early Sugar Activity?

Watch Listen

http://dev.laptop.org/git/projects/watch-listen/

Is it essentially deprecated? Is there any reason to disturb it from
it's slumber of dev.l.o?

Thanks for any feedback.

[Sugar-devel] List of activities on ASLO

2016-03-11 Thread Chris Leonard
Can someone with systematic access to ASLO do a data dump for me? Any
format will do (txt, csv, xls, ods, etc.)

I am interested in reviewing all known activities (at least those in
ASLO) for 1i8n/L10n and investigating further to see if we can
implement i18n/L10n where it does not exist. I would also like to
check on presence of repo links. I know this was only recently
requested, but I might as well check on it as I'll need it for
i18n/L10n follow up.

I've been updating:

https://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Translation_Team/Pootle_Projects/Repositories

data fields of interest

Activity name
Activity number
Activity version (latest)
Author(s) name
Author(s) number
Repo link (if available)

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

And try a manual "git push origin master" command from the server?

Re: [Sugar-devel] Problem pushing Pootle strings

2016-03-11 Thread Chris Leonard
Alan,

Most of our Pootle projects have not been linked properly for the
usual pull/push from repos that we leveraged in the prior Pootle
instance. I'm engaged in improving our cataloging of the projects and
their repos and hope to restore as many of those links as possible.

Some projects (e.g. sugar) have working linkages, so it is primarily a
configuration issue, bot a lack of function

Until those linkages are re-established, developers should consider
manual transfer of PO files before releasing a new version.

Re: [Sugar-devel] Sugarizer Activity Set - GSOC 2016

2016-03-11 Thread Shirsh Zibbu
Okay. I've just finished figuring out the causes of the problems:

   - timezone problem is happening because js Date()

works with local timezone, unless explicitly told to use GMT. needs some
time, since 'daylight saving' can also become an issue

   - i haven't yet implemented compass and legend. will do in the following
   days.

   - i do not understand what you meant by 'out of
synchronisation'. i believe it means the button shows activated, even
when the moon is not flipped (or vice versa). I hope I got that right.
   (more screenshots?)

   - the problem with Sugar Browse is due to the fact that I am using css
transforms to center the canvas. apparently, some css features do not
work everywhere. will switch to js for centering.

if any more problems pop up, please do tell me. i'd happy to correct them.
