Re: [Sugar-devel] SL Marketing meeting?

Looking forward to it. I have some ideas of how to go about integrating
some of it into GCI.

Re: [Sugar-devel] [SLOBS] GCI

2018-09-20 Thread Sidhant Bhavnani
Sounds good. Are we targeting any UI/UX changes in the form of tasks this
year or are we sticking with refactoring and bugs?

>From my previous experiences participating in GCI it's a surreal feeling
making something from scratch and seeing it used and
accepted thought the organisation.

For me GCI was almost like an internship, working in a team, building
something and learning something new with every task.
Perhaps this year for the design task we can actually make a proper design
guideline for our social media and design posts with
respect to the guideline. Or even better, the participants use their
critical and design thinking to come up with a guideline to be
followed through and after GCI for our social media.

I think I'm getting a bit ahead of myself at the moment. :p

With that being said, I'm looking forward to mentor this year. :D

Since there's a Proposal for a communication switch, please also do
consider *Zulip*. I've been using it for a few months for The Girl Code and
while working on Zulip too last year and I quite liked it.

Agreed. Also, putting time and attention to do it means to bring
along the rest of the community, and I don't yet see that happening.

Facts don't convince.

Agreed. Very interesting paper. For Sugar Labs, we have the
segregation of multiple GitHub repositories which has led to a call
for a developer "dashboard" aggregator, and also the "walled-garden"
effect of GitHub pull-requests and issues which are not archived at
sugarlabs.org. Design and development is segmented rather than
concentrated. Another chat medium is effectively a proposal to
segment further.

Thread original poster might find an IRC client or persistent presence
tool more suited to their expectations; then document that tool for
others of like-mind.

Hey Pratul, interesting stuff. Do also check out https://docs.npmjs.com/
documentation for NPM. I found this design and video first format really
helpful while trying to learn NPM. Maybe that's something that we could aim
for at SL too. Plus we also have some video tutorials for sugarizer already.
