[Sugar-devel] GSoC Proposal Feedback

2017-04-02 Thread Yatin Maan
Hey,
I just submitted my proposal[1] for the "i18n & l10n Workflow" and request
the communitiy's feedback on the same.

Proposal Synopsis:
-Make it easier for new developers to integrate gettext into their
Activities.
-Allow the translation process to be more accessible offline.
-Develop a i18n strategy for Web/JS based activities.

I still haven't managed to get the 2 community member answers for how my
task will benefit the community. Any help here is very much appreciate.

Re: [Sugar-devel] [IAEP] Sugar on Surface Pro (Microsoft Partnership)

2017-04-01 Thread Yatin Maan
Hey,
I understand that this is an April fool's joke but with introduction on
"Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL)"[1] I was wondering whether we might be
able to directly run sugar on Windows 10.

Someone here [2] even managed to get Unity and Xfce on WSL so I think it
might actually be possible to run Sugar.

[Sugar-devel] GSoC Localisation Task

2017-03-31 Thread Yatin Maan
Hey,
I am Yatin Maan (IRC yatinmaan).
I am current studying Commuter Science at SRM University, India.
I am interested in the GSoC Task about easing the localisation workflow.
I know Python and JavaScript and understand how both Pootle and gettext
work.

I was writing a guide about using Virtaal for local translation but ran
into some issues:

Q. Where are the activities and their .po files located on the machine?
-I could find them in the development environment but I don't know how much
it differs from an actual install and I failed to find them on SoaS

Q. After translation how is the user expected to send the .po files
upstream ?

Q. Are keyboards on XO's "localised" ?
-ie Do they have the local script/alphabet on them?

Q. What else can I undertake to further increase suitablity for the task?

Yatin Maan
