Re: [sumo-user] Flow-Density MFD Plots

2023-12-15 Thread Soheil Keshavarz via sumo-user
Hello Manikanta,
I'm interested to see if you can finally create good MFDs in SUMO for your
network and if so, how. I have the same issue but I always thought that the
reason for not having the bottom part is having some links that are not
congested or loaded during the simulation so the MFD for the region won't
have the bottom part.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Thanks,
Soheil

Dear Mirko,

Thank you for your explanation.

I am able to achieve maximum density in my current simulations, but i could
see flow is constantly increasing with the density, which is not the case as
per MFD. I.e bottom U shaped curve is not coming. Speed is also constantly
decreasing.

Can you help in this.

Manikanta

Dear Manikanta,

the "number" attribute refers to an absolute number of vehicles. If you want to
vary the flow duration but keep the flow rate constant (and the vehicles'
distances at insertion all the same), you are better off using the
"vehsPerHour" attribute. There you enter the number of vehicles you would
expect for an hour of this flow. Changing the flow duration will scale the
number of vehicles proportionally.

The instable part of the fundamental diagram (high density) is difficult to
reproduce. Even this
example<https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Tools/Visualization.html#fundamental_diagram_from_edgedata>
in our documentation shows very few data points at high densities.

Best regards

Mirko

Hi Team,

I am confused of two concepts in SUMO.

  1. How the insertion of vehicles will happen, if i use same "number" in flow
command.
  2. For the same number of vehicles, will the simulation end time effect the
insertion rate.

Basically, I want to plot the MFD by setting the max number of vehicles with
number attribute in flow. I am using the density value from the edgeStats
output file. However, I am not able to get the bottom U-shaped curve for
flow-density graph. I have referred the circular loop in docs, but no
improvement.

Please guide me how to get this graph.

Regards
Manikanta
