It was a 0.3.9.1-2 special (and actually my fault, I think). Yeh, the fix for that one is also in there, don't worry! (Fix was to correct the goof that made 0.3.9.1-2 so 'special' ! :-) Freenet.exe uses javaw.exe by default, but if that isn't present it falls back to using java.exe . The problem was that a recent (? or not-so-recent?) change to freenet.exe meant that, if it ran javaw.exe, it would call the WaitForInputIdle() API ... Unfortunately, for reasons best known to Sun, calling the WaitForInputIdle() API on javaw.exe always causes the application to hang! (well, duh, well done Sun). So we took out the call to the WaitForInputIdle() function (it wasn't needed anyway). And now it all works a treat, with both javaw.exe (i.e. javaw=) and java.exe (i.e. Javaexec=). If they're both uncommented, starting freenet.exe doesn't work. Commenting out javaw=... makes it work. Re: [freenet-support] help
In the next couple of days we are hoping to put together a new freenet installer that FIXES all known issues with the windows Freenet.exe ('white rabbit' systray icon) application, including (but not limited to) the following: o Rabbit icon sometimes 'locks up' and you can't get the popup menu to appear o 'Configure' doesn't work o Spaces in filenames don't work o Restarting freenet sometimes leaves it in a 'Freenet Having Problems' state And a bunch of others besides. This should make freenet on Windows a easier thing to use (and debug!) as any outstanding issues can then be tracked down as either o Freenet java problems o Installer problems o Network (e.g. firewall) problems Dave ___ Support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/support

[freenet-support] Bandwidth limitation
Hi, me and a friend have rented a dedicated server, and we would like to run a freenet node on that server. The problem is that we have only 5 gigabytes per month free traffic, and each additional gigabyte would cost us about $12. So we need some way to limit the bandwidth *per month* to whatever we have to spare that month. I saw that there is a way to limit the bandwith per second, but if we want to permit, say, 2 gigabytes per month this comes out as only 771.6 bytes per second, which is obviously not very useful. Is there a way to configure freenet so that bursts are possible, but average bandwith still stays below a certain limit? If this feature is not available, you should implement it. Otherwise many people won't be able to run a freenet node on their server. Another question: Which implementation of freenet would be best for usage on a server? Obviously we do not want the freenet node to consume a lot of memory and/or processor power. regards, Rüdiger Klaehn ___ Support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/support
RE: [freenet-support] help
There are a lot of answer to this problem on the mailing list... So most people thought you might check there first. (http://freenetproject.org -> Mailing lists )I am sure that is the reason you received no answer eailer. (But for the website, you probably should state in the download page a brief history/news about such "major" problem having being fixed.) Do one or both of the following: (1) Download the newer 0.3.9.1.2 (2) Do not put spaces in your install path of java or freenet -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of GerrySent: Friday, June 08, 2001 12:46 AMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: [freenet-support] help please see attachment for problem, thanks I sent this first on 6/2 and have not received any reply
