I get the same, though other aspects of node connectivity seem to be
fine. Going back to build 511 worked for me. I shall try 515 this
morning.

Hi,

1) I submit a new site on TFE yesterday

doesn't appears at all in the page. How much time do we need to wait for the

2) My DS is nearly filled 189 Még / 200 Még and at each time I want to
upload a new site I've got some error accessing the DS. (may give you the
log if you're interested)

3) The french page of freenetproject.org is not updated correctly (I mean
there isn't the pre2 to download that can explain why a lot of people are
still on pre1)

4) Lot of time on the console of frost I see :
<<
Exception occured - closing streams...
FcpToolsException FcpTools.DataNotFoundException: Data Not Found.
File not found or wrong size :(
Retrieving KSK@frost/news/2002.10.11-mp3-2.txt to

You can hate microsoft for the way they do things, even it is the way they
intended them to be done.

I also hate them: for designing a browser that has a repair function that
cannot seem to repair itself and seems not to be subject to uninstall and
reinstall. As a result I now have another
ISP because they could not determine what was wrong. (The browser, they
told be was created
and supported by another company, and they simply told be to go ask the
other company (Microsoft) how to do it.) Sometime that hardware will get
formated to start it from scratch -- when I get time to find all the disks
of all programs that are installed on it. The spiders do enjoy making webs
around it.

If it can be worked out, i would like to go that route. It can be, i
believe.

It says the files can be redistributed and the file they are in. That is
about it.

I'm under the impression that Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP regard
MFCxx (and MSVCRT and MSVCPxx and MSVCIRT, etc) as system files which can
only be installed (correctly) as part of the system service pack or hotfix
procedure.
It is not 1997 any more - you cannot just tell users to "unzip this
Microsoft DLL into C:\Windows\System and see if that fixes the problem".

I therefore also believe that releasing code built with MSVC7 will imply a
dependency on the end-user installing either a very recent service pack OR
the .net libraries.

This is not a good situation. Either release the MSVC6 builds (almost all
users will have the necessary MFC DLLs for that - Windows2000, ME and XP all
install the necessary system files for MSVC6 releases anyway) or do static
builds.

NO NO NO, it sounds more like you just don't understand them.
Actually, what does redist.txt (installed with msvc7) say? (I genuinely
don't know the answer to this, as I don't have msvc7, but I'll bet money it
doesn't say "please distribute our dlls as .zip files and ask the end users
to unzip them into the windows partition" anywhere)

Re: [freenet-support] Datastore problem between build 513 and 514 ?

2002-10-10 Thread Stephen Mollett

Hi,

I have also had this error, twice. The first time was when I tried to upgrade
from 511 to 512; I went back to 511, which fixed it, and never got round to
mailing the list. I tried 513 and it worked fine, so I forgot all about it.
But now the same happens with 514. I've got a native store of just under 1GB.

[freenet-support] Datastore problem between build 513 and 514 ?

2002-10-10 Thread Bertrand Lorentz

Hi,

I started running Freenet a few days ago without problem, with build 513
(I think it's 0.5pre2), and my native store was reaching 50 Mo.
Today I upgraded to build 514, but Freenet crashed on startup with the
following error message :
Oct 10, 2002 8:15:03 PM (freenet.node.Main, main): Unexpected Exception:
freenet.KeyException
freenet.KeyException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
at freenet.Key.readKey(Key.java:84)
at freenet.node.rt.ReferenceSet.(ReferenceSet.java:61)
at freenet.node.rt.ReferenceSet.getProperty(ReferenceSet.java:27)
at freenet.node.rt.TreeRoutingTable.(TreeRoutingTable.java:42)
at
freenet.node.rt.CPAlgoRoutingTable.(CPAlgoRoutingTable.java:34)
at freenet.node.Main.main(Main.java:483)

I restarted Freenet several times, same problem.
I renamed my store directory, and Freenet started just fine on an empty
store directory.
I went back to version 0.5pre2 and it started just fine with my 50 Mo
store.
I guess something's wrong with build 514...

If anyone is interested, I have the logfile for the crash, in normal and
debug loglevel.

Thanks

Bertrand

I figure I need to tweak the freenet.ini a bit. Anybody have any idea what
I need to update?

I'm not sure if running it will cause any problems with a running node - it
deletes the $TEMP/freenet directory which happens to now be the default for
where fproxy's and FEC put their temporary files.

Until I look more into it (timing, etc) I would suggest you stop the node,
run the update, and then restart rather than letting update restart the node
for you.

I've built it an included it in the two new builds:
http://hawk.freenetproject.org/~oierw/freenet-0.5_pre1_0.5.exe and
http://hawk.freenetproject.org/~oierw/freenet-0.5_pre1_0.4.exe

again, 0.5 is the msvc7 build (There are no other changes than the inclusion
of the UpdateSnapshot.exe), and 0.4 is the msvc6 build.

Any new problems, email either myself or the support list if you are on it
and I'll add it to the ever growing list of things we want to fix with the
installer. Enjoy.
