[freenet-support] Freenet 0.7.5 build 1391

2011-08-04 Thread Matthew Toseland
Freenet 0.7.5 build 1391 is now available. Please upgrade as it will be
mandatory on Monday. This is a major build, including:
- Important fixes for opennet. Path folding was working but not always.
- Fix lots of timeouts and ordering issues related to new load management.
- More fixes for New Load Management. Hopefully it can be deployed soon. With
the latest round of fixes it is working pretty well on testnet, with very few
error messages in the logs.
- Prepare for HTL-based timeouts, but don't actually enable them yet. This will
also need to happen before NLM.
- Changes to how freenet is built.

If you are building from source, you will need to move lib/freenet-ext.jar to
lib/freenet/freenet-ext.jar and create a file override.properties containing
"lib.contrib.get = true", to use the existing freenet-ext.jar and download a
new one if need be. Alternatively, you can use "lib.contrib.dir =
../Contrib/freenet_ext/" to point to a (built) Contrib dir. This should make
splitting up freenet-ext.jar easier, which in turn has various benefits such as
easier packaging and eventually making it possible to update the wrapper.

Thanks to infinity0 and toad.

Please let us know if you have any problems with this build, or with upgrading
to it! Thanks.

I (apparently) installed Freenet on my iMac (OS X Snow Leopard) some
time ago and have had intermittent freezes on the machine.

Apple support identified Freenet as the cause of a multitude of
'kernel panics' on the iMac (even after upgrading to OS X Lion) and
asked me to remove it.

Have you heard of similar problems from anyone else?

Hi,
That's completely wrong and false…
I'm using Mac from the start, 8 years ago, and have freenet working fine
since I first installed it, maybe four years ago. First Tiger,

then Leopard, Snow Leopard, and now Lion, and everything is fine.
The only troubles I have had with freenet, that was few weeks ago when
The automatic upgrade didn't work and I had to do it by
hand, and even that, was not related the slightest to Snow Leopard (that
I used at that time), since I heard a few complaints coming

from windows users and probably Linux too.

Did you try to start your mac from another account ? and have you the
same problem then ? Lion is very swift and efficient, but it has
to be perfectly set up… and some times, something from an old account
not perfectly compatible could just get on his way and make
him growl… what is your speed and RAM ? that could also play a role. The
thing is that it will probably never crash (none of mine ever did),
But if not enough energy or speed, it will take a new breath ! you
should spy on your cpu use and ram use (menu meter)
