I thought 40 was pretty decent. I was recently told that anything over
that tends to be a waste. I think fproxy defaults to less than 75 doesn't
 it?

Well, the real answer is that nobody really knows. A HTL of 100 will
lead to a higher success rate in finding data, and people seem to care
more about the success rate than the bandwidth consumption of the
network.

What authentication is this? How to avoid this kind of time out?

It seems that the mapfile handling in FProxy is the culprit, people
are investigating and we will put out a new release when it is resolved.

Re: [freenet-support] Java

2001-06-06 Thread Ian Clarke

Java is included with some operating systems, but not always. You may
download a copy of Java for your operating system from
http://java.sun.com/ - you want the Java Runtime Environment.

Believe me, in admitting you don't know everything, you know more than
most :-)

This is a known bug in 0.3.8.1, the best way to fix it is to download Sun's
Java Runtime Environment (see http://java.sun.com/) and reinstall Freenet -
making sure that it uses java.exe rather than jview.exe when it searches
for Java.
