This is NOT a bug, but a badly MISSING upfront statement on the freenetproject.org website. Upon downloading the 0.7.5 OSX freenet file from checksums.freenet.org, I was presented with the Installer dialog, which stated, among other things: "Self-signed Certificate; Not to be trusted, [issued by] Matthew Toseland; [Expires] Tue, 27 Nov 2018 1:46:54 +0200".
