[freenet-support] Installing freenet

2002-12-30 Thread Gertrud Stenzel de Grau
I want to install the freenet internet access program on a computer which still does
not have any access to internet. If I need a CD, where can I get it? or is there any
other possibility?
Thank you for your response. G. Grau

Freenet is not an internet access program; it's a program that uses
your existing connection to anonymously share information. As such,
it's not available on CD (unless you have a friend burn you a copy),
and there's no good reason for the maintainers to start producing CDs
for people.

perhaps it would be wise to add this statement to the new freenet website.

in germany there does exist an ISP called "Freenet", which will confuse people with
the "Freenet Project" if they're too lazy/busy to find out the correct support
address and mail the first email address they come across, regardless if it's
something completely different (and without wondering why the website is not
german but english ;)

Hello,

I am trying to install Freenet in console (text-only) mod on CentOS 6.2 x86_64.

$ wget https://freenet.googlecode.com/files/new_installer_offline_1407.jar -O

Running the above command
/bin/chmod a+x /home/sagari/Freenet/run.sh
results in no errors whatsoever.

Java version:
java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.48.1.11.3.el6_2.x86_64

Is the above a known problem? I would appreciate an advise on how to proceed.

Thanks.
Sincerely,
Konstantin

Local checksums match. Try redownloading the packages.
