Re: OpenMoko Webcam

2009-01-11 Thread Neil Benn
Hello,

Thanks, I've compiled the image now but I am slightly troubled as
I am looking for the files which contain the video for linux drivers
(v4l1-compt.ko) in the file system. However I cannot find them - if they
were compiled, should I be able to see those files?

Cheers,

Neil

Most of the distros require work before being usable. The asu theme in
2008.x is broken for all but token uses - switch to illume and read the
wiki about the keyboards. Helps a huge amount.

Still, it will crash at least once a day with suspend failures, fails to
register, BSODs, event/0 runaway, lost SMS messages, ... Even if you
dont use it once registered, its only a matter of a few hours and
something will go wrong.

2009-01-11 Thread Fernando Martins
I have just flashed fso-image-om-gta02.jffs2 (20090108). It took me
several tries until it finally flashed.

I got several dfu errors (110, 84 and plenty 71). After a couple switch
off/on it finally worked.

Unfortunately I can't get the phone app to work. I get always Zhone
stopped running unexpectedly.

BTW, FSO makes the phone look more computer like, than om2008 versions.
I'm not sure that's what I expect from a phone. om2008.12 doesn't seem
bad to me except that the keyboard makes it useless (I can't properly
input a contact, delete is a joke, guessing words is total bullocks).
Sorry to be harsh on the developers, but even after reading wiki/lists I
couldn't avoid the disappointment; it's 80% there, but the last 20%
truly are critical to me.

I put it to a SD-partition, together with 2.2.28 kernel and modules. It
started well. I was too slow to get into the settings to turn off the
suspend, so I had to remove battery and boot again. After entering the PIN,
I tried to make a call - with no success. Then I tried to get WLAN to work -
with no success either. So I booted back into SHR, where everything works
like a charm.

I'm awaiting your (Marcus') next announcment on March 31 23:59. Until then
back to whining.

Thanks for resending your patch. I have missed your old mail.

It works like a charm.
However, Zhone has problems with number like "+49-1234-". I removed the -

Yes, I know - but I don't know how to select and scale a scalable font
in X, so I wanted to take the easy way and use a large fixed font if I

Do you use the 2.6.28 kernel from http://downloads.freesmartphone.org/fso-

At boot time it says Bad CRC and stops booting.

So I used the kernel from MS 4.1 and the Freerunner is booting...

Hello,

I'm really sorry to be thick here but I'm moving onto the
FreeRunner to execute the work and I cannot download the
linux-image-2.6.24-openmoko-gta02 package. It compains that I need to add
sources - I've searched around again but cannot find the repository needed
to download this. So I copied the sources.list from my desktop machine plus
the contents of /var/lib/apt/lists to the freetunner. I could then do an
apt-get to install and that worked in taht it downloads the sources. This
complained that it could not execute dpkg-source and I need to install
dpkg-dev - I tried to do an apt-get for that but it complained that dpkg-dev
has no installation candidate.

I guess I am missing some sources in my repos but I don't know which
ones.

Thanks you very much for tips and advice.

Cheers,

Neil

OpenMoko Webcam

2009-01-11 Thread Neil Benn
Hello,

I am trying to enable support on my OpenMoko for Webcams. I have
followed the instructions to install debian by using the installation script
described at : http://wiki.debian.org/DebianOnFreeRunner. I then followed
the instructions for openmoko and webcam at :
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Webcam. I downloaded the kernel and upzipped
it as described. The instructions said to get a config from /proc/.config
but that didn't exist after the install script. I then found a config file
in the debian package which the automatic installer uses called
'linux-image-2.6.24-openmoko-gta02'. So I downlaoded the source for this
and found a config file at defconfig-gta02 - I used this. Carrying on I ran
the command : make drivers/media/video/v4l1-compat.ko. However here is
where the problem starts. The code goes through and shows the following

2009-01-11 Thread Alon Levy

to send/receive, but I could see the ones stored on the phone - I was using
