Re: WiFi GUI?

2008-07-25 Thread Sparrow
Good morning Thomas,

I don't think it is included in the getting started page as the
application only exists in a 3rd party repo. I don't think anyone would
mind a note pointing new users to the application on the wiki, but a
warning that it is not supported by the openmoko team should be added.

Best Regards,
Steven O'Reilly

Not sure if this helps, but I have been using wifi-radar
http://wifi-radar.systemimager.org/ which you can install on your FR
pretty smoothly. Check out the repository page on the wiki @
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Repositories and the repo I got the app
from is celtune. For those of you who don't want to check it out, do
the following from the shell on your FR:

cd /etc/opkg wget
http://rabenfrost.net/celtune/celtune-rabenfrost.conf

opkg update
opkg install wifi-radar

Hope that helps out.

Best regards,

I've been thinking trying the NetworkManager[1] backend with OM. All the
dependencies seem to already be in place (hal, dbus, wpa_supplicant) and
the backend is GUI/toolkit agnostic. It should then be a matter of
writing a OM specific UI that talks to the backend using dbus.
