[pfSense Support] Package install fail after upgrade to 1.0-BETA1

2006-01-19 Thread ijez
Hi,

Firstly, congrat to all pfSense developer for the fine product even it wasn't
in the STABLE phase yet but pfSense have proven it can do what it intent to do
nicely.

I'm upgrade to 1.0-BETA1 from v0.94.12,then I could not install any packages
with error :

Downloading package configuration file... done.
Saving updated package information... done.
Downloading squid and its dependencies... done.
Checking for successful package installation... failed!

Installation aborted.

Can anyone point me on how to fix this? I don't have any problem with packages
install since I start using pfSense until I upgrade to version 1.0-BETA1. All
the upgrade process I do is through firmware update and not with the clean
install.

Thanks in advances for the good product.

Regards,
ijez

It's recommended to do a fresh install with one of the beta releases. You might
want to use http://pfsense.com/~sullrich/BETA2-BUGVALIDATION5/ which is a
snapshot of the upcoming beta2.

[pfSense Support] Freebsd version

2006-01-19 Thread Jörgen Haraldsson

Hi

I don't know if it's just me that have missed something but why is the
Freebsd version in Pfsense only Freebsd 6.0 - Beta 5.

I have upgraded to Pfsense Beta 1 version but still Freebsd is only Beta 5.

Are there some over upgrade files i should install ?

I can't make a new installation with Livecd because i have made some extra
program installation in the Freebsd under Pfsense and i am not interested to
reinstall all the programs.

Answered this one yesterday. Eliminate all traces of the old
kernel. The new kernel boots from a compressed image, but the old
one is found first.

rm `find . \! -newer kernel.gz | grep -v kernel.gz` in /boot/kernel

Re: [pfSense Support] Package install fail after upgrade to 1.0-BETA1

2006-01-19 Thread ijez
Hi,

Thanks for the reply, if it was broken, then maybe I could just wait till it
was back to ok.. No need to be rushing since I don't use the packages much
except for ntop and I found this problem when I try to give a shot for squid
packages.

One more thing, if someone could clear me a bit, what the functions for domain
override under DNS Forwarder pages for? Can I used it to block certain domain
let say I want to block entire yahoo messager domain, so could I just put
msg.yahoo.com into domain part and 127.0.0.1 into the ip part? I'm using this
kind of blocking for the host ( yes, it was pain to key-in all those ad server
one-by-one ) but not so sure if I can do this for the domain override.

Thanks In Advance.

Regards,
zamri
