[pfSense Support] Problem with Polish provider
Hello, as i ask the List Year, i still have the Problem with an Polish Provider and the Hardware. I have a PFsense wall with a Jetway Board (1,2 GHz 2x GB Ethernet). The Provider uses dhcp and the PRovider inteface has 100 mBit Full-Duplex. No PPoE or something, direct IP via DHCP (auth is done via MAC, because only one MAC works). Last i thought, the Problem could be solve by manully set the media opt (ifconfig re0 media 100BaseTX mediaopt full-duplex) This doesn't work. The Link chages from up to down every 30 seconds which causes 100% CPU Time. I figured out that deactivating dhcp on WAN interface solve this issue. But if the Provider change the IP (which happened twice a Year). If this happen, ican not access the Wall and i don't like to fly from germany to polish for changing an IP address. So my question is, did you have any Idea why this happen with dhcp ? My Pfxense Version is: 1.2-BETA-2 built on Mon Jul 2 20:37:34 EDT 2007 Greetings Markus -- __ Dipl. Inf. Hi Jeroen, OK. I have the router being configured for IPSec. Are there any tips or tricks to getting this to work? Thanks. I am able to connect to the router using the MS VPN client but I am not sure how to do it with pfSense. Use IPSEC; this is the best way to connect a Cisco to pfSense. If you are not familiar with Cisco, ask someone to do it for you because it's not really a piece of cake. -- Jeroen

RE: [pfSense Support] PPPOE with static IP
Thanks for the replys. First, i corrected the issue with the lack of a second DNS last week. My internet is up and working. The thing is that i am not getting the same IP address i used to. I think this is yet another stupid change. I tried a cheap linksys router that lets me manually put in an IP address in the PPPoe settings and it all works well. I put the IP into the Virtual IP settings, but it doesn't work. I tried it as an ARP and Other. Then i went to the NAT settings and setup a 1:1 nat with my machine and it doesnt want to work. Im not sure what else to try. Argg, Why did Att have to change things? Everything worked fine. I am very much looking for a new ISP. I guess i shouldn't have assumed that you were on an older version, but your reference to how you added the IP addresses arp and other, were more like the terms used for 1.01 and not 1.2rc2 and 1.2rc3 where proxy arp, carp and ip were the options.
