Hello,

do you have a Layer 2 connections between the buildings?

If, I think there are two possible options

1.Creating a Transport LAN to connect the buildings

In this case you have to create a new Interface on both sites.

You can create a small subnet 10.0.254.252/30 to interconnect the
LAN. In this way you can use static routing

2.Creating a Transport LAN with failover

I think a other option is to create the transport LAN and use a
dynamic routing protocol to interconnect the LANs on booth site. In
this case you can use the IPsec connection as a backup link.

I think this solution will work with OSPF, you can install on pfSense.

If you have questions just let me know.

*Betreff:* [pfSense Support] Linking 2 Building without VPN

Hello,

I have 2 building each with multiple networks. They are currently
joined via an IPSec VPN.

Building A is 10.0.0.0/24 and 10.0.1.0/24

And

Building B is 10.0.2.0/24 and 10.0.3.0/24

Right now I have a 10 Mb/s link to the internet in building A and a
100 Mb/s link in building B so I have an IPSec vpn tying 10.0.0.0 to
10.0.2.0 and 10.0.3.0 and the same for 10.0.1.0

Now I have just been provided a 20 Mb/s dedicated patch cable between
the two buildings (this wire has no services on it but is essential a
30 KM patch cable).

What is the best way to utilize this new Patch Cable to take the
place of my current IPSec VPN links? If need be I can add interfaces
to the 2 pfSense boxes or just make configuration changes.

Thanks.

hi,

you have to watch the output of ovpn when the error occurs.

I know i had to tune some stuff in the config file i imported to windows
vista/7

i think you have to add

route-method exe
route-delay 2

to your config file.

cheers.

Hi,

I'd like to query if there is a way to have multiple server addresses
in an OpenVPN setup?

I would like to add redundancy in the event of my provider going down,
I can then connect
to one of the other provider's IP's (I have 3 WAN interfaces on the
OpenVPN server machine).

Is this possible or would I need to use a DNS address with multiple
records or DYNDNS type
solution.

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thank you,

Dominic.

[pfSense Support] different network cards with different ip's all served by dhcp server.

2011-05-06 Thread J. Echter

Hi,

i used IPCop before i switched to pfsense. in ipcop i had 3 network
interfaces (lan, wan, wlan) which all had different ip (192.168.0. ,
192.168.1. , 192.168.2.). these interfaces where served by the dhcp server.

is this possible to achieve with pfsense 1.x?

the goal is to keep wlan users away from our wired lan.

greetings

iOS does not have OpenVPN built in. I never looked to see if some app
provides it, but I highly doubt it.

IPsec has been known to work with IPsecuritas. It is just hit-or miss. For
us, it worked for some people but not others, and pretty much everyone here
was using Comcast as their ISP (including the main office). I think we
determined that consumer-grade Verizon DSL was blocking IPsec for some
bizarre reason, but my memory is fuzzy on the specifics.

for a jailbreaked iPhone you can have a OpenVPN client. i don't know if
there's one for a non jailbreaked.
