[pfSense Support] LOCKWARNING and LOCKERROR messages

2008-07-15 Thread Arnel B. Espanola

Hello,

Please advise how can I permanently stop this issue from happening. This
occurs once or twice a month. And to fix it I have to clear the lock as
suggested in this link:

http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,8152.0.html

Go to Diagnostics - Command in the web gui and run the following command.
rm /var/run/captiveportal.lock

I would appreciate if anyone has found a permanent solution on this and
share it with me so as to prevent it from happening as it becomes nuisance.

Thanks,
Arnel

Arnel,

What version of pfSense are you running? Is it a full install or an
embedded install? What do the system resources look like at times when
this is happening? Are your CPU and memory pegged pretty hard?

Gary,

I'm running PFSense 1.2-release and that was installed from LiveCD
Installer (I guess that's full install). When it happens I never noticed
CPU or memory usage goes up. Both stays normal. Usually the average
utilization for both is less than 10%. I don't know exactly what's the
usage when it begins to happen. I only noticed it after few or several
hours or when users started to complain.

If you're hitting that exact same issue, that's fixed in 1.2.1. If you
don't use any packages or wireless cards on pfSense itself, 1.2.1
seems to be fine for production use.

Alternatively, this is the change mentioned in that forum thread, you
can just edit this file and add this line as shown.
