Appearance of usernames in chat vs IM
Hi all, using pidgin 2.5.5 on win32, i have noticed a difference in the way usernames are displayed in instant messages vs. the way they are displayed in chatrooms: while they are bold in ims, their font is normal in chats. IMHO, this makes the chats less readable. (Currently selected GTK theme is MS-Windows). I suppose there is a way to change how usernames are displayed using gtkrc, but i haven't got a faint idea of what item i need to configure to accomplish this. Could any of you enlighten me? :) Thanks and best regards, Julian ___ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
Changing your screen name
My screen name (shown under the "Nickname" list in chat rooms) was entered using all capital letters. I'd like to change that to lower case letters, since everyone in my assigned chat room is using lower case letters. When I open the Account window choose the Beehive account and click on either Edit Account or Set User Info pages, my screen name is grayed out. How can I modify my screen name?Marilyn J Montgomery | SeniorTechnical Support Engineer| cell 770.354.3229Oracle Universitymarilyn.montgom...@oracle.com ___ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support

Re: Pidgin - MSN - Proxy
Hi, tiago.francisco.ab...@bportugal.pt schrieb: At my work I installed Pidgin in Windows v.2.5.5. My company use a proxy. I successfully configured gmail following same information on the web. But I can't make MSN work. However I can make Windows Live Messenger v8.1 work. Can someone help me? That depends on the actual problem, maybe only your network admin can help you. In case you're company uses a (manually configured) proxy for HTTP(S) traffic over ports 80 and 443 (and blocks directly connecting without using the proxy within the firewall), but does not require a proxy for the rest of outgoing connections, then the problem is the following: MSN uses two connections, one over port 80 and one over 1863 iirc. So if you configure a proxy server within Pidgin, access over 1863 fails, due to the Proxy not being accepting connections for that port and if you don't, connections to port 80 are blocked by the firewall. At my company this issue has been solved as the proxy is now a transparent proxy, no need to configure it manually anymore. So I do not know of a solution, apart changing the network infrastructure. Greetings -Sascha- PS: I remember there was a patch floating around somewhere, but I never bothered to try it and compile Pidgin myself. ___ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support

Does anyone know how I would go about connecting with my university email address? Apparently Your University Address is being processed through Google Apps or some corporate version. using dbus with finch
I am trying to use dbus-send with finch. I was able to get the example in http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/DbusHowto working fine with pidgin, however trying to run any dbus remote command without a display does not seem to work. I tried setting DISPLAY=0:0, no help. I realize that this is more of a dbus question than finch, however I was wondering if anyone had come across this issue. According to everything that I have read about dbus, it is not dependent on x11. # dbus-launch finch # dbus-monitor --session Failed to open connection to session message bus: dbus-launch failed to autolaunch D-Bus session: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed. ___ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
Compile plugin for multiple systems and create an autoinstaller for it. Help please!
Hi. I have made my language_change plugin. My teacher would like that I compiled it for multiple architectures. He would want that if he pushed the file with the plugin then the Linux operating system will auto-intall it like Windows operating systems. I have tried with debcreator and dh_make. It don't seem the correct way. On the other hand I think that would be a good idea to test the plugin before I uploaded it to some repository. It has worked within any problem in my Kubuntu Linux. Can you test it too? Thanks! I include the source code of language_change. Any help please! /* LANGUAGE_CHANGE This plugin change the default language in Linux.
