Ubuntu Jaunty, kernel 2.6.8-15 That's weird, it sounds like something is calling prpl-add_buddy() with a PurpleBuddy where name is NULL. Is this with ICQ, by any chance? You may want to try editing your account, going to the Advanced tab, and changing the value in the Encoding field to something appropriate for Polish. -Mark ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? I got this message on debug: GLib: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.20.1/glib/gmem.c:136: failed to allocate 1526792193 bytes. I have tried reinstalled the Pidgin many times, but the error persists. Is there a way to fix that problem ? Hi Leonardo. That's a bit odd. So it crashes immediately after starting it? You can try starting it by running pidgin -n from a command line, this will prevent your accounts from connecting immediately. Then you can connect each account one at a time and see if one of them is causing a problem. You can also try starting with pidgin -d and looking at the output before Pidgin crashes. You may also want to try disabling any 3rd party plugins or accounts. If it's still crashing feel free to file a new ticket at http://developer.pidgin.im/newticket And please include a backtrace from the crash. There is information on obtaining a backtrace here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace Thanks, Mark ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? On your web site you provided some instructions on running apt-key and generating pidgin-ppa.list in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pidgin-ppa.lst. I followed those instructions and generated the following file: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu None main When I run the update manager I get: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu/dists/None/main/binary-lpia/Packages.gz 404 Not Found Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. My guess is that my file is invalid. On another thread I saw a user who did a manual change from 'None' to 'hardy'. That also did not work. Can you help me? Thanks in advance, Howard Cunningham Yes, I think None is not a valid distribution. Do you know what version of Ubuntu you're using? I think our PPA only supports 8.04.2 LTS (Hardy Heron), 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) and 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope). Try replace None in your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pidgin-ppa.lst with one of hardy, intrepid or jaunty. -Mark ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? says incorrect password BUT
What appears to be wrong is no Hostname in the certificate manager. I had to do this once before when the cert expired, but I don't know what needs to be in the Hostname or where to get the cert #. This may have happened when I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 and changed hard drives. I also have Open DNS, but Pidgin was working on my old setup with Open DNS. I did not have to install from dependencies, as it was already installed, but maybe needs to be configured. If so , how do I? JR ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? If updating to 2.6.2 doesn't fix it, please install the debug symbols and then get a backtrace, doing something along the lines of the instructions at http://pidgin.im/gdb.php, but before running Pidgin, do break purple_account_add_buddy if buddy == 0.
