Help with getting MSN messenger to work

2010-01-01 Thread Daniel Green

Just got a new netbook for Xmas which runs Ubuntu which I've never used before.
I couldn't get MSN messenger to work so checked out the Pidgin website where I
found an update (called a PPA?). The instructions aren't clear to me. Do I
copy the whole thing in one go or separate the commands? If I separate the
commands, do I paste them into separate 'terminals'? When I've copied them
into the terminals(s), do I just close them down, hit the return key, or what?

Sorry to ask such simple questions, but I could really do with some simple to
understand step-by-step instructions to get me started.

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] Entering Chinese text in Pidgin

2010-01-01 Thread Lee Kohl
I just solved this on my own, rather serendipitously. Right click in the
text entry field of the conversation window, Input Method-->Windows IME,
problem solved. Sorry for the trouble!

...and happy new year.

Thanks,

Lee

I highly recommend finding a Linux User Group in your area, they can be
very helpful when it comes to learning how to use linux.

I'm not sure if this is the Facebook plugin or Pidgin:

The error from the system message I got was that it was a problem in the
C++ runtime (I didn't think of screen-capping those from Windows).

There are no known errors with the hdd, and this is the first time I've
encountered this error.
