I've seen both, but I'm not aware of them coming in combination. There
are those who say they are desperate, but I get the impression that they
are often outworkers, particularly for companies that exploit housebound
people, operating on almost a franchise basis.

There are also a lot of people with the big corporate logos, and often
with job titles which do not match the quality of the support requests,
but my suspicion is that those are people with illicit, or tolerated,
installations for personal use. Because they think they are talking toa
a confidential help desk, these people are happy to ask questions that
reveal their mis-use of their computers.

There may be counter examples, but they haven't stood out to me.

privacy blocking list

2010-03-12 Thread Frank Lenk
Hello,

I’m using pidgin in version 2.6.6 on Windows7.

If I want to add an icq number in the blocking list for my privacy, I get
the message (in german language J) “Konnte den Buddy 582028938 aus einem
unbekannten Grund nicht hinzufügen.”. Means, it’s not possible to add the
Buddy with unkown reason. Equal in administrative mode or not.

I’ve searched in the faqs and other lists and my big friend google. But
never found an useful answer.

What can I do? Everyday I get new contacts from Russia and I simply want to
block them.

With regard

Frank

2010-03-12 Thread Dagobert Duck
I think U're german, so I'll answer in german.
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins#SecurityandPrivacy) gegen
Spam-bots begegnen.

OK, have you tried copy/pasting your password into the pw field from a
text document? I don't normally recommend this but I'm not sure what
could be wrong aside from either a mistyped or misremembered password (I
have that problem often with my IM only accounts).

Replied to the suggestion off-list.

Your problem may get solved if you read the message on Pidgin's homepage
(http://pidgin.im/) and act accordingly.

This email was not a business email. PIT is a volunteer, volunteering
to help you in free time for no compensation at all. This mailing
list is a list of such volunteers, supporting the Open Source program
Pidgin. You can find out more about it at http://pidgin.im/ .

Pidgin is an instant messaging client which can connect to a number of
different services, such as AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Live Chat,
Yahoo! IM, etc. We are not affiliated with any of these services, and
we cannot help you with account problems on the services.

That said, we're more than willing to help you get Pidgin working.
You say your password is being rejected. What service are you using?
Can you log in to the official client for that service? How are you
entering your username and password into the account dialog?

Please send your replies to support@pidgin.im so that other people may
respond as well.

You did not answer *any* of the questions in my previous email. For
your convenience, I have repeated them here:

sync settings

2010-03-12 Thread Galimov Bulat
Hi all! Pidgin my favorite IM client. Thanks a lot.

I've been thinking, can make the synchronization settings? =) I use pidgin
at work, my home PC, my girl's PC and my netbooks (windows and ubuntu).

Pidgin to synchronize the settings on all my computers from. Settings are
stored on your servers, and every client is actually configured.
Account can be detected automatically, exactly the same ICQ or gmail, or the
user creates a new accaunt purpose for synchronization via the server.
It would be nice =)
thanks!

At what point did this stop working (did it stop working after you
installed something or changed your configuration)?

Which GTK+ version are you using (Help->About)?
