Domain users

2010-05-07 Thread Steve Perkins
Hi Guys

I have looked at the Wiki and Faq's, I'm trying to get pidgin to pick up
the users name at logon (winXP win7), We will be using the XMPP
plug-in, is possible to do this?

Many Thanks

Steve

  Hi Daniel

Thanks for the reply, Yes that’s exactly what I need, so when a user logs
in, Pidgin automatically grabs their login name and apply it to before @
 domain.com. ( we have a jabber server) .

Please reply to the mailing list and not to me directly.

I wrote a Perl script (http://pidgin.im/~datallah/ll_pidgin_migrate.pl) to
create a default `accounts.xml` file to facilitate this type of thing a
while ago.
It is designed to be run once the first time the user logs onto the machine
in question.

Hopefully it is helpful.

Please elaborate further about what you are trying to do.

What does it mean to pick up the users name at login?

Login Assistance

2010-05-07 Thread Amanda Huffling
I recently changed offices and downloaded Pidgin on my new computer.
Unfortunately I did not recall my account password so I clicked the forgot
password link and filled out the info requested. The default email that the
password was sent to is now out of service therefore I wanted to ask how to
access my current buddies or login?

Thanks!

You would need to contact whoever runs whatever service you've lost the
password for. Pidgin is only a client to connect to the services. If
you've lost the password for your AOL IM, you'd need to contact AOL.

Or if you have access to the old computer, you can copy a file from it
to restore your IM accounts, along with the passwords.
