Deleting a Chat Room

2010-05-21 Thread sunblade
Hi,

Is there a way to delete a persistent chat room from the Pidgin
interface? Adding and joining works great but I also need to have the
ability to delete rooms. Btw, the server is run by jabberd.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Alan

If you're not using version 2.7.0 (Help-About will show you the
current version), you should upgrade.

Right, well our proxy now allows access to the GTK+ zip file and to the
debug symbols, however when Pidgin tries to download the spell checker
dictionaries it fails because

http://ftp.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/

seems to be an empty directory. Have the dictionaries moved elsewhere?
I'm sure the previous info here

http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Installing%20Pidgin#manual_win32_spellcheck_installation

pointed to a different download location.

Right, well the problem may well be that the mirror it picks is still
blocked by our proxy. I've put in another bug ticket about it, will see
if that helps ;-)

The admin people are rather resistant to just allowing any program to
access the outside world without authentication

Please don't reply to me directly, instead use the support mailing list.

We don't maintain the U3 version.

There are several portable versions, the U3 one (which has an
updated version available if you look at the website linked to from
the sandisk site), the manual version described here:
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Using%20Pidgin#RunningWindowsPidginFromaUSBDrivePortableMode,
and the portableapps version (also linked to in the

Persistent pop ups I want to disable

2010-05-21 Thread Mattias Janebrink
Hi,
I want to disable the notifications on friends signing in/out but can't seem
to manage that anymore since my last clean install.
I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 and have one MSN account and one Facebook chat (XMPP)
account activated.

In preferences the only sound I have have activated is on message received.
Plugins relevant to my problem is the Dölj Går in/Lämnar (Swedish)
(/usr/lib/purple-2/joinpart.so) which is activated.

Please help.
It's getting really annoying when I'm logged in to Facebook chat where
people are coming and going every five seconds.

I'm not positive, but I think you're talking about the notifications
generated by the libnotify plugin.

If that is the case, disabling that plugin will get rid of them. If
not, you'll have to elaborate about what these notifications are.

You want to delete the room from the room list on the server? Or from the
pidgin buddy list?

Deleting from the buddy list is in the right-click menu.

I'm unsure if we provide a convenient way of deleting the room from the
server, but setting the room to non-persistent and clearing it will do
that.

Pidgin 2.7.0 breaks Guifications

2010-05-21 Thread Aaron Leonard
Greetings,

As far as I know, this problem's not yet been reported (although I have
only just now joined this list.)

The upgrade to Pidgin 2.7.0 has broken the Guifications new message
toaster popups. I.e. I have Guifications configured to pop up a
message whenever I get a new message ... and it worked fine up through
all 2.6 versions ... but with 2.7.0, Guifications pops up no longer.

This is *not* an instance of the Flash window bug
(http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/11842) ... I've got the pidgin.dll
with that fix installed, and it does fix the icon flash problem ... but
still no joy for Guifications.

Now, I see that developer.pidgin.im doesn't want us to file bugs against
issues with plugins (although since the plugin worked in 2.6.6 but
doesn't in 2.7.0, it seems likely that this is a bug in Pidgin.) So
shall I file a bug against Guifications? (Not sure what's going on with
Guifications ... it seems that there is some work in progress on a
version 3, but not in the last several months?)

Cheers,

Aaron

Is guifications maintained by Pidgin? If not, might want to find the
developers and report the breakage to them.
