The problem here is that Pidgin is either not finding some portion of
GTK+ or it is finding an older version.

It isn't likely to be related to the fact that you installed support
for Asian languages.

The easiest solution is probably going to be to reinstall pidgin,
making sure that you have the "GTK+ Runtime" component selected during
installation.

Do you need to be able to keep log files separately from the normal pidgin
user data? Because if not then you can already do this. See the FAQ.

In fact on non-Windows platforms you can already set just the logs to a
different location with a symlink, Windows just makes that slightly more
difficult to set up.

That being said any sort of solution at this level would be subject to the
user not manually breaking it.

I would love to use pidgin in our work enviroment but for compliance
reasons, I can not because it's not in compliance. I need to be able to
keep records of the conversation. Please give us an option to assign a
location for log files.

Thanks!

Problem starting Pidgin 2.7.5 after installing files for East Asian language in Windows XP

2010-11-09 Thread Sangwon Lee

Hello there,

I installed Pidgin version 2.7.5 in my Windows XP box, and it's been
working fine.

However, after I installed files for East Asian language in XP's Regional
and Language Options,

I got this error message when I tried to start Pigdin.

"pidgin.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point gdk_pixbuf_save_utf8 could not be located in the
dynamic link library libgdk_pixbuf-2.0-0.dll."

"Error loading pidgin.dll.
Error: (127) The specified procedure could not be found."

Is this a bug?

Thank you for your support!

Does anyone else find it entirely bizarre that a successful "signing
in" process on the Yahoo site can result in a continued lack of access
to an "account". Isn't that what this sign-in is accessing in the
first place?

To reset your Yahoo account password you need to use the Yahoo website's
account password reset/reminder feature.

It would seem that what you need to do is to go to yahoo.com in your
browser then hit the "Sign In" link near the top of the page then hit the
"I can't access my account" link and follow the prompts from there.

If it was .pidgin then it wouldn't make sense for other libpurple clients
(like finch) to use it which would mean you couldn't share logs or plugins
or settings between them.

Re: gtk.zip file download issues

2010-11-09 Thread Etan Reisner
I don't know whether pidgin will correctly look for a non-local GTK+
installation at this point, if it does I don't know the details of that.

pidgin installs GTK+ within the pidgin installation directory and as
Daniel indicated the offline installer comes with the GTK+ zip file
bundled so you don't need to download it separately.

Using Yahoo servers with pidgin set up for an XMPP account will never
work.

That would be like trying to put your car key into a hole in a tree,
turning it, making engine noises with your mouth and hoping the tree would
drive you to work because you were pretending it was a car.

That being said it should also be pointed out that the Windows CE software
pigeon is in no way related to pidgin and (according to a few minutes of
online research it only supports ICQ and XMPP/Jabber).
