I missed that you were on an oracle.com email address. If you are using
Oracle's internal IM system, you need to contact Oracle's internal IT
support department.

You need to provide more information than this, what is the error,
which service are you using, which platform and version of Pidgin are
you using etc.

None of the developers currently uses a sametime system. sametime
problems are unlikely to get fixed in the short to medium term.

Brian: you should assume that no-one subscribes before posting to the
list. sametime is the protocol. The service will be an in house Lotus
system.

Re: [2.10.1]-Google Talk Status Is Always "Away" ???

2012-01-11 Thread Isaac Witmer
I also use an android, However I want my android to go "away"
A better solution is to mess around with the jabber priority.

Out of the box, Gtalk has a higher priority away than Pidgin does
available. This means that GTalk's priority status over-rides
Pidgin's.
The fix is to adjust Pidgin's priority while available to be higher
than Gtalk's Away priority.

To do this you'll have to enable the XMPP priority plugin. You'll see
the values on the Advanced Tab of your account.

Unfortunately I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head. the
number 24 comes to mind...

Hi,

Using current Pidgin IM version 2.10.1 on Windows 7 HP 64Bit.

Today I added my Google Talk account to Pidgin,
but my Google Talk status is always "Away".
(changing global status in Pidgin does not change Google Talk status?)

Anyone know how to change Google Talk status to "Available"?
Thanks in advance!

You need to make sure your username and password match the service you are
using.

Please note that Pidgin is not an instant messenger protocol unto itself,
it's a client for many instant messenger protocols.

I don't know that this is the correct answer - mainly there wasn't
enough information in the question to provide an appropriate answer.

If you're sending a message to someone who will receive it on a cell
phone, whether the recipient receives a SMS or some sort of "data
transfer" will depend on how the recipient has configured his phone to
interact with the IM network.

If you're asking about using Pidgin on a computer that is using a
Verizon modem / tethered phone for internet connectivity, then any
messages you send / receive will be "data" from your perspective.

The OP would best address their question to the Oracle internal IT
support department, and he might also like to install the latest
version which is 2.10.1...
