Preloading Groups

2012-05-03 Thread Scott Glass
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know how Pidgin or GTalk, for that matter, store its group lists?
I have a task given to be by my company to preload the list of support team
groups for our corporate users.

1. Are groups stored in Pidgin or Google?
2. If Pidgin, where? If Google, does anyone know where I can look to find out
how?

Thanks,
Scott

Can't remove group on XMPP

2012-05-03 Thread Ryan Pratt
I am running 2.10.0 on Windows 7, logged in via XMPP. I have a group called
"Manager and Peers" that I created. If I try to move contacts to another group
or try to delete this group, changes are not saved and "Manager and Peers"
shows back up once I restart Pidgin. The changes are not being saved.

As you are an Oracle employee, or at least you appear to be, please
would you contact your in house IT department for help. We cannot
support you as you are using private system servers that we know nothing
about.

Re: Preloading Groups

2012-05-03 Thread Mark Doliner
For XMPP the master copy of the buddy list is stored on the server
(operated by Google, in the case of Google Talk). Pidgin does keep a
local copy, but it's just a copy of the list from the server.

I'm not aware of Google offering the ability to preload contact lists,
but I'd try searching around. If you really want to you could write a
Pidgin plugin that users run that adds people to the contact list one
by one, but I'm guessing that's more trouble than it's worth.

Highlight Misspelled words option

2012-05-03 Thread Irina Druskin
Hello,

Highlight misspelled words option worked on my computer until I had to reformat
a hard drive.
After that the same and the newer version of Pidgin on the same OS Windows7
stopped highlight misspelled words, even though I made sure it's checked in
Preferences--> Conversations tab.
Would you suggest how I can fix it?

Thank you

Irina

It is almost certainly because the dictionaries and spell checker have
been deleted during your reformat.

If you reinstall Pidgin and select these options in the installer then
Pidgin should download them and reenable this support.
