 I use version 2.10.1 btw.

The latest release is version 2.10.4, it would be a good idea to update
as the fixes in the latest three point releases are aimed at fixing
real world problems with some services and protocols.

I don't know how to get this messenger to work with my yahoo account.

It should be as simple as creating an account using the Yahoo protocol
and entering your login ID and password. Have you tried at all? There
is help available both in the program and online at pidgin.im...

Also providing an explanation as to where you're having problems helps
us figure out how to help.

Issue connecting to Openfire

2012-05-09 Thread David McGuire
This is a quality of life issue more than anything. We have an OpenFire 3.7.1
XMPP server, and Spark as the client. This works fine. However, when you use
Pidgin, you can't just put in the short JID name (jdoe), you have to put in the
whole name (j...@chat.corp.company.commailto:j...@chat.corp.company.com).
Some of my users are complaining about this. In proper BOFH fashion I'm telling
them to just deal with it or use Spark, but if I can come up a solution to
allow a chat through the short name I'd be a hero.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to configure Pidgin to do this?
