I presume that you feel the need to do this because something is going
wrong. To have any chance of anyone finding a solution, you need to
provide as much information as possible about what is going wrong. That
will include exactly what you were trying to do at the time, error
messages, and will probably include the contents of the debug window.

You also need to say which version you are using, and the environment in
which you are using it, in particular which service(s) you are trying to
use, possibly the OS, and anything about the way you connect to the
internet that may impose restrictions.

 Why?

I think this is one of the typically attitudes of Windows users to solve
any kind of problem; another is reboot. Maybe, both are even official
recommendations of M$ and/or IT departments running Windows only.

Even for Windows, these days, I don't think it is terribly effective.
It might have helped when DLL Hell was more prevalent, and a
subsequent install had downdated a DLL.

Re: Openfire 3.7.1 + Pidgin Client - LDAP user password update on Pidgin clients

Between Openfire 3.7.1 and Pidgin is there a way that the Pidgin client can

No.

It is, however, possible to set up Openfire to be able do Single-Sign
On with Active Directory
(http://community.igniterealtime.org/docs/DOC-1060).
Once you get that working, you can set up Pidgin to also authenticate
using your windows credentials

We can't tell without more information (e.g. a debug log (Help-Debug
Window) from when the issue occurs).

Custom smileys in SILC

2013-04-04 Thread Michael Obermeier

Hello,

I have recently stepped over the SILC protocol and I really like it, as
well as the possibility to send images directly (pardon my lack of
professional vocabulary ;) ).
But the problem is, Pidgin's custom smiley system doesn't seem to work
with SILCat least it didn't with me.

So...is it possible to use it or something similar?
What I want to do is the following:
- I want to define 'Strings' in advance and link them to an image. For
example :test: - send 'test.jpg'
- If I type :test: in Pidgin, it should detect it and automatically send
test.jpg

Of course, this is exactly what the (great) Custom Smileys do...but, as
I said, I can't get them to work with SILC. So is there any possibility
to do something like this?

Thanks in advance,
Michael
