Hi, Just wondering, will my messages be encrypted if i talk while on facebook itself or does it have to be done through the actual pidgin application? Thanks ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Use this link: https://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
Pidgin for windows server
I am trying to integrate Pidgin into our office network. We have one user that uses a server as their workstation. When trying to setup Pidgin on the server it appears to install correctly, but I cannot see any of the other users on the network. I am using the Bonjour protocol. -Brian ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Use this link: https://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support

If you aren't using pidgin then pidgin isn't involved... So is your question Does Facebook encrypt IMs?? If so, the answer is that Facebook may use HTTPS consistently or they may not, but they definitely have access to decrypt your IM traffic for their internal use. While there might be plug-ins that allow you to encrypt locally before sending text, these will only work if both sides use the same technique, so no, your text won't be encrypted if one side is using a potentially unencrypted endpoint like Facebook's own interface. I hope this helps. Also potentially interesting, is this server multihomed? Does it connect directly to the internet and provide access for other internal users? If so, does anyone know how or if Bonjour works with multihomed servers? I vaguely recall that it has some issues. -- Dave Warren http://www.hireahit.com/ http://ca.linkedin.com/in/davejwarren ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? What service? You might want to try the debug logs to see if they yield any interesting results. -- Dave Warren http://www.hireahit.com/ http://ca.linkedin.com/in/davejwarren ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe?
