Re: uninstall

2019-09-17 Thread Chris Garriss
You do not have to have Pidgin start when you boot, at some point you
either made the choice or left a default option. You should be able to
change this is settings or options. I have never enabled it to start
automatically, I use multiple computers and did not want it installed on
some, so I used the Portable Apps version on a thumb drive for those. That
did not start automatically either. I also had no problems uninstalling
and wiping the drive space when I was passing along a system.

Lately I have tended to use more and more Portable Apps on a thumb drive
just for convenience.

Re: Msn Issues

2015-01-21 Thread Chris Garriss
The problem is Microsoft, not Pidgin. Microsoft keeps shutting down
"unofficial" methods of access and applications - of which Pidgin is one.
So, a new Pidgin version is likely not going to solve your problem, at
least long term.

Re: Pidgin not working today

2014-11-12 Thread Chris Garriss
I think the real issue is that no one I have talked to today has been able
to use msn, hotmail, etc. accounts that had been previously set up and
working. No, it is not Pidgin per se, and Pidgin is not the "carrier, but
does anyone know of changes that MSFT might have made? If I recall a few
years ago MSFT made some changes and for a period of time you could not use
any of the accounts using the Pidgin application - there were some
incompatibilities.

Re: This is unacceptable!

2012-01-02 Thread Chris Garriss
I use both Pidgin & multple applications including Gtalk. I have had no
such issues. You probably need to look At your settings in Gtalk,
Messenger, etc. I always get a notification that someone wants to connect-
I always decline unless it is someone I am sure I know.

Re: Pidgin No Longer Works for Me

2010-02-11 Thread Chris Garriss
I had a similar experience, and "resolved" it by uninstalling the current
version and re-installing 2.6.4

Re: patch for clientLogin issue

2010-01-15 Thread Chris Garriss
I reverted to 2.6.4 - OTR would not work with GTalk, Yahoo or MSN in 2.6.5.
In attempting to make a Private Conversation connection it just "hung". My
brother in Canada with 2.6.5 just received a series of error messages, he
also reverted to 2.6.4. OTR works with no problem in that version.
