List Handler does not copy as i want it to

2010-01-25 Thread Michelle
Hi

I do not seem to understand the list handler plugin I have now got it on my
pidgin but I can seem to copy my buddies from one account to another.

I click on the list handler choose the account I want to copy from then
click on copy then select the account I want to copy to and then click on
add.

Now all my buddies add to the account I wanted to copy from?

Can you also explain to me why I can only copy to accounts that are on my
pidgin?

These are 2 problems I would like to solve.

The most important problem is how do I get it to copy properly.

Can you please get back to me a.s.a.p. as this is for work and it cannot
wait

Best Regards

Google Talk Client with Pidgin

2007-12-18 Thread Michelle Scullin

Hi,
I'm having some trouble running the music status from Itunes from Google Talk
within Pidgin. Is this status available to run from Pidgin? I've really liked
Pidgin so far, it's simple to use and MUCH cleaner than some of the other
multiclients I've used, But I'd like that application to work on the status bar
if possible. the only way I've figured out how to do it as of yet is simply by
running both, and that defeats the purpose.

thanks
Mish

The difference is, that the "launchpad" messages come in a singel
unrelated messages and NOT threated, which mean, IF YOU ARE NOT ON
LAUNCHPAD, you can not fiollow a discusion... you get all the time only
singel messages!

And If I do not see and relation between question and answers it is not
worth to read... Unfortunately I am over GSM/GPRS and have to download
this crap.

If I want to use a Forum, I subscribe to Launchpad, but I want to read a
good mailinglist!!!

Note: I am using "Gaim" since over 6 years and now "Pidgin"
and I like to see a quality support mailinglist not
poluted from a clueless forum. And of course, ${USER}
give a fsck on HOW LAUNCHPAD or the Mailinglist is
working...

Mailinglist polluted by LAUNCHPAD

2008-06-11 Thread Michelle Konzack
Hello Mark and *,

First I like to say, that a SOFTWARE is only good as its SUPPORT!

Now I am on this list since some days and already noted, that LAUNCHPAD
is poluting the Mailinglist with singel unrelated non threated messages.
Reading some of those clueless messages does not let me even guess, what
the questionaires are talking about...

Please look at
<http://devel.debian.tamay-dogan.net/pidgin/20080611_150937.jpg>
which show the broken thread and then at
<http://devel.debian.tamay-dogan.net/pidgin/20080611_151127.jpg>
where I have repaired the thread in "mutt" manualy

Such things make it VERY hard to answer and help.

They are two solutions:

1) Droping the injection of LAUNCHPAD messages to
push the mailinglist into a higher quality one
or
2) Ask the LAUNCHPAD peoples to correct there setup
and ADD correct "Message-ID:", "References:" and
"In-Reply-To:" headers to the injection messages

I would vote for the second solution since LAUNCHPAD is database driven
it can be very easyly implemented.

I have my "own" version of LAUNCHPAD which "works for me" but it was not
a big deal to provide a Mailinglist and NEWS gateway.

Any comments?

Do you know, there are peoples which must pay for there Internet Access?

I live in a region where I have NO POT hence no ADSL, no SDSL, no xDSL
and no Cable Modem. The only posibility id GSM/GPRS since for UMTS the
distance is to long... I have 500 MByte traffic for 35 Euro/month.

Each MByte more cost 1.60 Euro.

Downloading tonns of useless messages whitout and context is wast of
money and resources.

Hello,

is there a way to block ICQ requests by charset?

I get per day nearly 200 "Buddy" requests and arround 130 appearing in
my window without beeing accepted...

If the ICQ server can not block it, maybe Pidgin can check the charset
before displaying "Buddy" requests or open the message window?

I was 2 days not a home and when I cam back, I had over 800 pidgin
dialogs/windows open. Fortunately a "killall pidgin" works wonder...

The machine is a Quad-Opteron 880 with 32 GByte of memory, if someone
wonders, how a X-Window-System can survive with 800 pidgin windows.

Hello,

if Pidgin lost the connection (Gaim has rarely lost the connection and
it was working perfect) Pidgin enforce the Focus to it self, which is
realy annoying since since it happen several 100 times a day.

This mean, Pidgin is not more usable as Messager...

I have already disabled all this by default installed crap of plugins
but the behaviour persists.

So my question is, HOW can I diasable this behaviour permanently?

It seems there is not an option in "Settings" or "Plugins" so do I have
to patch and recompile this pig?

Can it be, that Pidgin disklike GSM/HSDPA connections?

For some minutes my whole X-Window-System freezed and crashed. Pidgin
has writen a 27 GByte ~/.xsession-errors file...

Yeah, Linux is very robust...

And my ${HOME} is my Intranet Server mounted over NFSv4.

in the last 12 hours I had at least 40 disconnects even my ppp0 told me
it was permanantly On-Line... So if you wan to get the 27 GByte logfile
you need a very big mailbox. :-)

...or should I send the Log-File to the list? :-D

Oh, Windows Vista Users should not try to expand the bz2 file, since if
it reach the 4 GByte Limit of Windows, you have to reinstall your whole
System. Hmmm how can someone code such bullshit of an OS?

We have DVD4.7, DVD9, DVD18/20, BluRay with 25 and 50 GByte...

Windows can not handel a singel size of them. :-D

Windows *, the most non-reliable Operating System.

However, I had to kill the LogFile. :-/

Re: sos!

2009-05-24 Thread Michelle Konzack
What does

which sed

return? Usualy it is "/bin/sed" and if so, do a

cd /home/vaish/Desktop/pidgin-2.3.1/

then do a

grep -R "/usr/bin/sed" *

if it retunn one or two files, you can modify it manualy, bit if the pig
is hardcoded in millions of locations, then call this script:

[ STDIN ]---
#!/bin/sh

for FILE in $(find -type f) ; do

  if [ -n "$(grep /usr/bin/sed ${FILE}" ] ; then
sed 's|/usr/bin/sed|/bin/sed|g' ${FILE} >${FILE}.tmp
if [ $? -eq 0 ] ; then
  mv -f ${FILE}.tmp ${FILE}
else
  rm -f ${FILE}.tmp
fi
  fi

done

This paragraphe in the Microsoft EULA could lead to a lawsuit in Europe
against Microsoft because Microsoft is trying to kickoff competitors...

Microsoft will be not able to enforce a lawsuit against anyone in (at
least) Europe.

There are already several judgement in Germany and of course, of the EU.

Since some days serious problems with ICQ

2009-12-08 Thread Michelle Konzack
Hello again,

since some days, exactly since 2009-12-01 I have unexpected crashes
(coredumps of 48 to 150 MBytes) with Pidgin and connection and protocoll
problems with ICQ.

Now, for some minutes I was contacted by several peoples using Jabber,
which asked me about MSN and ICQ problems...

It seems there is a very serious problem with it because without MSN and
ICQ, ANY of my business contacts are cut off.

OK, but what about the Plugins?

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 Lenny and I have a bunch of them. Do I
have to recompile the whole Plugins? (AFAIK 19)

And of course, is it possibel in the NEW version, to deactivate the
Windowmandger alert?

(It is realy annoying, if an account disconenct and Pidgin grabs every
time the focus over different Desktops/Pages and of course, this
function is a potential security problem)

I have found out where the bug is...

If you install "pidgin" (at least under Debian and ANY versions) the
"notify.so" plugin has activeted the URGENT WM_HINT by default, even if
the checkbox is not checked.

You have one time to activate it, close "piggin", run "pidgin" again and
deactivate URGENT. Now the focos grabing crap is gone.

I think, this hast co corrected in the sources of "pidgin"

Re: SMS

2009-12-31 Thread Michelle Konzack
Hello,

Am 2009-12-29 09:25:43, schrieb Larry Ostroff:
> Does it support SMS messages yet?

Yes, under certain conditions...

you haveto setup a local MTS with afake domain like

smsgateway.localdomain

which accept any numeric E-mail adresses.

then use "procmail" and "smstools" to thread the messe.

ATTENTION: "smstools" is a cool daemon which require a mail formated
SMS like:

From:
To: 00491779351...@smsgateway.localdomain
Date: ...

SMS message

SMS message can be in and characterset, but be aware, if you
write in UNICODE/UCS the message can not be longer then 76
characters.

And if the mesage is longer then 76 or 160 characters, it
depends on the configuration of your "smstools" which then
will send Multiprt-SMS-messages (cn be quiet expensive) or
reject it.

All you need to archive this is a cell-phone connected to your computer
running the "smstools" daemon.

Note 1: I am using the German O2 provider with the prepayed "Freecard"
which give me 500 Free SMS with each 30 Euro recharge (maximum
1000 Free SMS in 30 days) thismakes up to 700 SMS per 30 Euro
recharge and is one of the cheapest.

Note 2: I am not associated with "O2 Telefonica" and only a customer
which use it heavyly

How to use two profiles in Pidgin?

2011-12-17 Thread Michelle Konzack
Hello,

My Operating System is Debian GNU/Linux Squeeze/6.0 and I work in an
intranet with a central fileserver where my ${HOME} is stored.

I have to work with three different workstations and I call it simple

1) electronic
2) it
3) office

now if I start pidgin, it force me to open all three Jabber accounts
and even IRC chats on all three machines parallel and there is an huge
interference between.

My qustion is now:
How an I run three independant profiles from three
independant Computers from one Linux account?

Re: How to use two profiles in Pidgin?

Hello Dave Warren,

Am 2011-12-17 07:41:26, hacktest Du folgendes herunter:
> I'm not really sure what you mean by "interference between them",

> don't conflict or interfere with each other.

Explanation:

A)  I have ONE central Intranet Server which hold the users ${HOME}

B) I have three workstations which access the same account on the
Intranet Server
1) ITSystems
2) Electronica
3) Office

This mean, the directory ~/.purple/ is shared by all three workstations

Now I have three Jabber accounts

1) linux4miche...@jabber.ccc.de
2) electron...@jabber.ccc.de
3) michelle.konz...@jabber.ccc.de

and I want to use the accounts on the appropriated Workstation.

> If you wanted to have separate pidgin profiles, you could use the

Ha, that was, I was searching for! Uff, I was not aware, that Piggin
has such option. I will try it out immediately.

> Another option might be to create saved statuses that put certain

This does not work, becaue if I login on "ITSystems", then any Pidgin
connections on "Electronica" and "Office" are shutdown and now redireted
to "ITSystems"

So, the only solution is the seperated Data-Directory
