home premium 32 bit. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this version and the
above still happens and it has only happened with this version. Sorry to
gatecrash and all.

What do you mean? Sure you can.

I assume that you're on Windows because you haven't specified.

I have no idea why you're experiencing whatever it is that you are
experiencing, but you haven't offered much to go on (OS information,
Pidgin version, information about under what scenarios you experience
problems).

See http://d.pidgin.im/wiki/TipsForBugReports for how to get a debug
log and crash report and how to file a ticket.

You can't type in capital letter in the text input field or cut and paste.
Ever better DEP keeps on closing pidgin because it is doing something it
should not be doing. So first it is not working as it should and then it is
really is not working as it should.

You shouldn't be downloading files from arbitrary sources, that isn't
a good way to get stuff working.

That header comes from the Bonjour SDK:
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/BuildingWinPidgin#BonjourSDK

It looks like Apple has made it almost impossible to find the SDK now,
but I found this link that appears to work:
http://developer.apple.com/networking/bonjour/BonjourSDKSetup.exe

Missing header files when building Pidgin

2010-06-08 Thread Kevin Macksamie
Hi,

I'm trying to build Pidgin 2.7.1 on Windows Vista and I'm following
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/BuildingWinPidgin. I get a missing file when
trying to compile. I'm missing dns_sd.h. When I download this file and put
it into the right directory I come across an error telling me I am missing
sys/socket.h, replacing that gives me an error that I am missing features.h,
then sys/uio.h, and now bits/socket.h. I must have missed something, but I
don't know where. Please help me. I'm sure I forget to download and extract
some file.

Thanks,
Kevin
