Pidgin Icon

2010-08-13 Thread German Ballardo
Hello,

I was wondering if you could shed some light on a status Icon I've never
seen before in Pidgin, it's this little padlock looking icon under one
of my friends in the buddy list, do you happen to know what that icon
signifies.

Thanks,

This icon means that the user's AIM program supports Encrypted IM, and
the user has configured an appropriate certificate and is able to do
encrypted chat. Pidgin does not support this.

Pidgin icon doesn't show in system tray

2009-06-14 Thread yaip
Sometimes, the Pidgin icon doesn't show in the system tray. I know it's
running as when I hover my mouse over the empty space in system tray, it
says "Pidgin - Available". However, I can't right-click to access the
context menu. So I can't access my buddy list. I tried restarting Pidgin but
no luck.

Request for support on Pidgin icon display problem

2010-07-26 Thread Yu Shao Qiang
Dear Sir/Madam,

I have installed the complete version of "2.7.2 for Windows". However,
after successful launch, all the images(body icons, emoticons, custom
smileys) are displayed as "X". This is really frustrating to me as I have
been a long time user of Gaim.

Could u pls kindly provide a workout for this problem. Should u need any
more information, pls let me know.

Thanks, Lloyd

Re: Using the Pidgin icon for a mobile platform game

2012-04-03 Thread Rohan Bhangui
To whom it may concern:

My name is Rohan Bhangui and I represent a game development team which is
making a game for the mobile platform (iOS and Android) that is interested
in using the pidgin icon, as an element of our mobile tower defence game.
If you would like to get more details as to how we would use the pidgin
icon, I am best contactable by email: bhanguiro...@gmail.com. I appreciate
you taking the time for reading this email.

The Pidgin icons distributed with Pidgin are licensed under the GPL.
As long as you make the icons freely available to your users in the
form you received them (including the original SVG for those items for
which it exists), and follow the terms of the GPL, you are welcome to
do so.

I read this as being a trademark question, probably substituting logo
for icon.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.

Pidgin icon in Ubuntu 12.10/Mint/Cinnamon fixed (at least for me!)

2013-01-18 Thread Dustin DeVries
For anyone having trouble with the Pidgin icon disappearing in Cinnamon in
the system tray, I was able to fix it using the following hack:

As root (or sudo) from a terminal window:

cd /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/hicolor
mv 16x16 16x16old
ln -s 22x22 16x16

Then restart pidgin.

This essentially makes pidgin use the 22x22 icons instead of 16x16 icons.

I was suspicious that the icon size wasn't right for the container, and
that perhaps that was causing the image to get scrolled off the menu. I
don't know if that's exactly the problem, but the status icon in the tray
does seem to move vertically over time and then eventually just disappears.
By setting it to 22x22 (again at least for me, and I've verified this on
two different systems running Cinnamon), the icon stays put in the tray and
doesn't move around.

Hope this helps.

2013-01-18 Thread Tres Finocchiaro
Thanks for this, Dustin.

Since Cinnamon plays nicer with the 22x22 version, perhaps the Cinnamon
desktop team has a way of making this default?

Pidgin + Cinnamon are a fairly popular combination, I'm sure others will
benefit from your investigation.

2013-01-18 Thread Dustin DeVries
Yes, I actually brought this up on the system icon bugs thread for cinnamon
(don't have the url handy) that was a catchall ticket for bugs related to
system tray behavior, so hopefully someone on the cinnamon development team
can help us out. Either way, in glad to finally have this fixed!
