Hi Kevin,

Have you tried changing the "minutes before becoming idle" setting at
Tools->Preferences->Status/Idle ?

Cheers,

Eion

I'm confused... are you using Pidgin's purple-remote command? Or are you
receiving an XMPP message that was created by JavaScript somewhere? It's
not clear to me how you're using JavaScript to start a conversation.

In either case, have you tried passing in a space instead of %20?

 Hi,

I had a question about Pidgin. Am I able to add people as contacts
from chat groups I am not a part of? For example, if I only had a
Google Talk about, but I wanted to add someone who used MSN, do I need
to create an MSN account? Is Pidgin only able to bring in contacts from
 the same chat groups?

Pidgin is simply a multi-protocol client, so yes you do need an account
with a particular service (such as MSN) to contact other people that use
said service.

I recently noticed when I use Pidgin at work, it generates a log file

Open a conversation with that buddy and check the Options menu. The Enable
Logging option is probably checked.

Is this with Yahoo or MSN? Or is it with Jabber, Google Talk, or
 another XMPP account?

I'm going to guess that it's with XMPP transports; I used to have this
happen all the time. The solution is to use a plain Jabber program to
add transport users to your buddy list (Gajim, for example) and then log
back into Pidgin (it's what I had to do about a year ago, though it may
have been fixed right now -- if so, disregard this message)

First, please reply to the list, not to my e-mail address, thanks.
Second, no I don't know of any way to do this.

Thanks. I have another question. I just transferred from AIM to Pidgin,
and I like Pidgin a lot better. In AIM there's a group for online and
offline, instead of one big group. Is there a way to show the offline
buddies separate from the online ones?

Thanks again

 Is there another option?

The Guifications plugin at
http://plugins.guifications.org/trac/wiki/Guifications can do this. If it's not
working, you need to make sure you have a theme enabled and have notifications
turned on for each event you want to see.

It is a typeahead search. If you start typing a part of a buddy's name,
it will find that buddy.
