Webcam
Hello! I've been using Pidgin for a few weeks now. I'm really liking it! Everybody uses different messengers and I used to run several of them. It just became a pain and ate up resources on some of my older systems. So I just stopped using them all together except for Gtalk (to check e-mail) and MySpace messenger to chat with friends. Now I've resubscribed to AIM, MSN, Yahoo and even made an ICQ account. Thanks much for such a great program and keeping me in touch with friends and family! My question is: Will webcam ever be a part of any future versions of Pidgin. Currently in my task bar is Pidgin and Skype. Pidgin handles all the IM's, but I use Skype for the webcam feature (so my Mom can see her Grandson). I was just wondering, and hoping, if Pidgin will ever use the webcam feature from some of the IM's or maybe even incorporate Skype down the road. Once the video session has terminated I close the Application & re-enable the Account in Pidgin. Webcam Problem
Hello everybody and thanks for reading this, I've been having some problems to run the webcam on pidgin, the webcam (Eye PS3) is detected but when the conversation starts, it doesn't sends the image/sound to the other computer. ( and it doesn't receive neither) Pidgin is installed on a GNU/Linux Mint pc and im trying to communicate with a GNU/Linux Debian Wheezy pc. It is kinda strange because when the conversation starts, we are both able to see our webcam, but not the webcam of the other person. ( On the Debian Pidgin alredy has been tested with another Debian pc and there was no problem at all ) On the Mint PC: Skypes works good and the video/image are shared. The webcam is detected on Cheese. Could anyone help me? i guess that you will need maybe details such as the lspci? for any detail mgs me and i'ill send it. ( i didn't send it because actually my pc is the Debian PC, and the Mint PC is in other country, so i have to ask by phone to some one to send me what i ask ) I hope to find a solution because i do not support privative software and making pidgin work would be great! PC with windows obtained serious virus. no more yh messenger. would wish for cam to be working on Pidgin. I did not set up the PC with Linux system. Is Cam use deactivated by administrator settings? highly desired feature request: webcam support
I am using Pidgin 2.5.2 (the default and most current version on my Asus EEE 1000 LINUX PC. This line of netbooks uses the Xandros debian distro. There does not seem to be any viable alternatives WRT multiprotocol IM clients. About webcam support for MSN protocol
Hello, first of all: Excuse for my poor english, and excuse me to get your(s) mail(s) for writing this. This is a generic mail for a lot of contacts about instant messaging developers (or lists) that I get browsing the web. So this mail is a little generic. And the purpose is to get a discussion about webcam support for MSN protocol. It's a fact that Microsoft changes the protocol for getting video (webcam images) and it's a lack for all developers getting all the things working for us (I'm not developer, I'm only user). So I'm writing this to ask you if it's a possibility to get a ride to support partially webcam support. It's not real support, but it's a ride. It's difficult to get everytime support por webcam each time Microsoft change the protocol. So my question if is it possible to get webcam support by another protocol and merge it to the MSN chat window. Of course it will only work for all messaging application that can support this "mergeing" way. Yes, the lack it's for original "MSN Windows Live" users. But here... a lot of users install other applications like "MSG Plus" to add fatures to it. So the question: is it possible to get it working by a plugin (or official support) to MSG Plus?? It would be a good option meanwhile developers can find a way to officialy support the official protocol of MSN. Something like: meanwhile there is no compatibility with official MSN protocol, get it working with a bypass protocol (existing or new).
