Re: SM 1119, How to change wmv default app?

2011-01-22 Thread Rob C.

Paul,

What I haven't seen suggested and what may help make the
change you want, is this. Open Control Panel, then Folder
Options. Click on the File Types tab and scroll down to the
.wmv extension. Once you select it you can use the Change
button to choose the program that opens .wmv files. You may
need to use the Browse button to find the executable file
for the media player you choose to use. This is a global
change, not just a change in SeaMonkey. You can also change
other extensions in this manner if you wish. HTH. (Would
have posted earlier but server's been down)

Not for me, but I'm still on 1.1.19.

As I understand it, yes, this is normal (at least for me). I'm guessing
by double clicking, you are, in effect, indicating that you want to
reply to the message (that you hadn't read yet!!).

Daniel

The OP is talking about double-clicking on the news group. When you
double-click on the news group, it does the first action in its context
menu: Open in new Mail window.

There are times when my mouse (I assume it is my mouse) click results
in an inadvertent double-click and I get a new Mail/News window. Unfortunately,
it is the same size and in the same location as the previous one, so it's
not obvious that this has happened until I notice all the application icon/
buttons on the Windows task bar.

Thank you Mark.

Except that 'Open in a New Window' is the second option The first is
'Get Messages.'

Sometimes holding down ctrl key and left mouse click doesn't register to open a new tab.

2011-01-22 Thread Ant

Hi!

I like to have my Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.0.x web browser to open new
tabs with ctrl key + left mouse click. Once in a while, it doesn't
register because I didn't hold it down long enough or something. Has
anyone noticed this annoyance? I have seen it happen on slow and fast
computers in both Windows (XP Pro. SP3 and 7) and Debian/Linux (all of
them have the latest updates).

Thank you in advance. :)

copy the whole hierarchy of the profile on the other machine and use it

What if the two machines use different operating systems? What if the
user name is different on each machine? Items in the prefs.js file will
have incorrect paths.

in that case start over a fresh new blank profile..

prefs.js accumulates tons of useless garbage
absolute paths are a nonsense.

The OP is talking about double-clicking on the news group. When you
double-click on the news group, it does the first action in its context
menu: Open in new Mail window.

There are times when my mouse (I assume it is my mouse) click results

is that so difficult to copy a hierarchy of folders manually ?
MozBackup may have an interest if one wants to keep backups but it
should have a doc of what it does really

One caution if you do this -- and I do, regularly.

If you simply overwrite the Mozilla folder on the target computer,
Windows will replace files with the same name (which we want), but
retain files that don't exist on the source computer. If your intention
is to sync the two, the target computer will have all the files from the
source computer, PLUS any files that were on the target computer but not
on the source.

The right way to do this (with SM closed on both computers, of course)
is to begin by renaming the folder on the target computer (I call it
"Old_Mozilla"), and then copying new version of the folder from the
source. When you've ascertained that all is well, you can then delete
the renamed (older) version.

Of course, if all you want to do is transfer the bookmarks file or
something like that, copying one file onto the target will replace the
corresponding older file on the target. The issue I raise only occurs if
you're copying folders onto folders.

Thank you very much That was easy!

I just did that. but I used Moz Backup. It was very easy to use and got
everything - passwords, bookmarks, emails!

from the support page of mozbackup :

Can I use MozBackup for synchronization between two PCs?
I don't think this is a good idea. If you use Firefox try Firefox Sync
which is better for such task. If you use Thunderbird try to think about
having your mails on server and access to them via IMAP protocol.
Familiar solution you can have for contacts.

I think mozbackup not enough documented
