What am I??

2011-03-10 Thread Daniel
For know reasons, I've added the words not Firefox to my user agent
string, so that:-

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US;
rv:1.9.1.17) Gecko/20110123 SeaMonkey/2.0.11 not Firefox

However, when I go to About:Seamonkey in the browser address line, it
shows version 2.0.12, so has my adding the not Firefox directly to
the general.useragent.extra.seamonkey made it impossible for SM to
actually update the Build Identifier??

Is this why others advocate creating an additional value like
general.useragent.extra.seamonkey.firefox??

Or is it the / that I've seen either end of the not Firefox in other
peoples identifiers that makes the updating of the Build Identifier
possible??

Oh yes, with multiple profiles you'd have to remove any
~/.mozilla/seamonkey/*.*/lock .

Good, but I am still puzzled, why all of a sudden I had this problem.

Strange indeed. As said, I had the message too but the update went fine.

That's what I'd expect, too. I'm not getting one.

Also tried clearing all my Flash cookies, no joy.

Unlike Daniel, I never see a Pause button. I see a Play button, but
clicking it only turns it pink as long as I hold it, no other effect.

When a wat.tv video is working correctly, there's a full-screen icon at
the lower right to maximize it. With these, I see only the wat.tv logo.

As I typed, for me the screen starts on the Play mode so I only see a
pause button.and I can go full screen as well!!

I think there is definitely a problem with this update (2.0.12). I
have the same problem coming up on 3 different stations at home and at
the office and the problems all started when the automatic update took
last week. One of the problems is that in Composer, I can't cut and
paste a linked text (a line of text containing a link.) When cut and
pasted, either within the same file or from another page, the link
disappears.

Yes. Use a new key for that instead, like
general.useragent.extra.notfirefox=NOT Firefox/3.5 and reset the
.seamonkey one to the default.

Or, of course, switch to 2.1 Beta 3, where a Firefox/4.0b11 identifier
is being added by default in a built-in way, with nothing you need to do
manually. :)

what I had yesterday still backed up somewhere that I can still get at

Do you use IMAP or POP for receiving your E-mail? That is, do you leave
incoming messages on the server, or do you download them? (A clue: If
you use POP, then the messages are available even when you have no
Internet connection. If you use IMAP, you always need an Internet
connection to view even old messages.)

Try this: just after you've logged into a site and asked SeaMonkey to
save your password, go to Edit/Preferences, Privacy Security,
Passwords, and see if it 'stuck' i.e. is in the list.

You might also look there first and see what/how many are being
stored...

Some Web sites contrive their login pages to block you from saving your
user ID and password. Generally, you can defeat that blocking by using
the method at http://cybernetnews.com/firefox-remember-passwords/.
However, some sites will still block.

Bug #425145 at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425145
requests that should have a built-in option to defeat the blocking of
the saving of user IDs and passwords. This RFE (request for
enhancement) appears held up by a debate over which has a higher
priority: the intent of Web developers or the wishes of users.

Also see bug #355063 at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355063. This notes that
some Web sites perform login operations via scripts; in that case, the
Password Manager cannot remember user IDs and passwords. This is
becoming more and more common an implementation. For a workaround on
some such sites, I use a PrefBar checkbox to disable JavaScript
temporarily while logging-in.

I have searched for this inbox.msf and cannot locate this folder.

In Seamonkey click on Edit Mail Newsgroup Account Settings

the

the hard drive. You will find inbox.msf here.

Ok still there after I deleted file. An more suggestions ?

With the cursor in any folder in this account, do File | Compact
folders.

BTW, when deleting any msf file, you'll get the best results if you do
it with the program closed.

I do the file/Compact Folders twice a week just to be sure.
And BTW, It will NOT let you delete the .msf file with the program open.
Still getting it so any more suggestions ?

Richard, how about closing SM totally (including the Quick Launch
feature if you use it), open your file manager and locate your inbox
file. Rena me the inbox file (the one with-out the .msf) to something
different, inbox_broken maybe. Delete the inbox.msf file again.

Now re-start SM. A new, empty inbox will be created. Does this fix
your problem??

Daniel

I did this sir and had no problem.
It did create a new folder in my inbox called inbox_broken with all my
old messages in it.
