If you zoom the text content, there is an option whether to also zoom
images. On the menu bar, go to [Edit > Preferences]. On the
Preferences window, go to [Appearance > Content]. At very last checkbox
at the bottom of the Content pane controls this.

To simplfy zooming, I installed the PrefBar extension and enabled the
Font- and Font+ buttons, which zoom smaller and larger respectively. I
also downloaded and installed Font Reset Button button from
, which restores
the initial state in case you forget how many times you zoomed smaller
or larger.

That works in SM 2.0 but NOT with SM 1.1 (SM 1.1 Text Only resizes).

Also, holding down the shift key and wheel scrolling goes backward and
forward thru the pages.

I keep with SM 1.1 because I don't like the tab system in 2.0.

As I said in a prior thread, I got used to and like the old Tabbrowser
that Piro (Japanese) fellow) had for SM 1.1. I wish he'd update that
extension to 2.0 and whatever is next ! Damned good Tab extension

After setting user.js, it is necessary to terminate and then restart
SeaMonkey. The settings in user.js are applied only at startup.

When I created the Junk folder, I probably did not pay attention to what
I highlighted on the left. Since I can confirm that the folder contains
"Junk" from parties from whom I do not want to hear, I can probably

As I suggested, just emptying your Trash should get rid of your Junk

Someone named Mike emailed me and advised me to delete the Junk folder

Well, as far as IRC goes, if I'm not mistaken, it's used by some
programmers to interact. So far as it's used to push programming
forward, I can't blame them for giving it priority. Plus, such a module
has been available for years. Discontinuing it all of a sudden would not
make any more sense than discontinuing the composer function, or the
mail one.

As far as RSS goes, I guess it's a matter of demand. It's definitely
useful and I am glad they implemented it sooner than later. Again, it
makes life easier for a lot of people. It's direct value added for SM. I
wouldn't say the same about your reply-forward example, which is a minor
"problem" that only bothers a few people and already has a workaround.

No idea, but you could find it by dichotomy:
1) close SM
2) backup prefs.js as original_prefs.js
3) create prefs_2.js containing second half of prefs.js
4) erase second half from prefs.js
5) start SM
6) if the problem shows up, close SM, delete prefs_2.js, goto 3
7) the problem doesn't show up. Close SM, delete prefs.js, rename
prefs_2.js as prefs.js. Restart SM:

 - if the problem shows up, goto 3
 - if the problem doesn't show up, bad luck! the problem is caused by
interaction of multiple settings.

Repeat until there's only one line left in prefs.js: the culprit. If you
don't find one, check user.js (if any) and extensions as well.

Note: dichotomy is very efficient. With my 2700-line-long prefs.js, 11 or
12 iterations would be enough.

If the unwanted junk folder remains even if totally empty, you may have

Re: Page size wrong when printing from email

2011-04-15 Thread Paul B. Gallagher

navoff wrote:

I've been having problems trying to print from SeaMonkey's email
interface. Even though the default printer settings calls for letter
size paper, SeaMonkey thinks the paper size is 2" x 4" and it cuts up
the email onto separate pages. I tried changing the paper size from
inside the email interface using the File> Page Setup, but page size
is not an option. I'm using version 2.0.13 on Windows XP with SP3.
Any idea how to fix this?

What your printer thinks are its defaults and what SeaMonkey thinks are
its defaults don't always match. For example, all my printers have
default portrait orientation, but if I choose landscape in SM, it will
keep that as the program default until I change it -- even after a
restart. SeaMonkey apparently never reads the printer's own defaults, it
keeps its own separate listing.

To verify this, go to about:config and filter on "print_paper_" --
you'll see a listing of all your printers, each with the following
parameters:

...print_paper_data
...print_paper_height
...print_paper_size
...print_paper_size_type
...print_paper_size_unit
...print_paper_width

If SM really thinks your paper size is 2"x4", you should see:

...print_paper_height 2.00
...print_paper_width 4.00

The normal way to fix this (without messing with about:config) is as
follows:

Instead of hitting the "Print" button (which is a shortcut for "print
the entire document using the current settings, no questions asked"), do
File | Print or CTRL-P. In the Windows print dialog that appears, select
your printer and click the "Properties" button. Select the appropriate
paper size, orientation, etc. OK out, making sure to follow through and
actually print. SeaMonkey should remember these settings.
