Seamonkey 2.11 - token encoding UTF-8

2012-07-27 Thread Bernd Adda
hi
I use UTF-8 for all - Distri and SM
But sometimes I get Mails with other encodings (ISO-8859-?)
Ten I can't read the Mail while the letter are to little

May you seek for a config to change other encodings in UTF-8?
automatically, if needful? May be its a new idea - I would like it.

 Thank you in advance. :)

You can try Check Commpatability 1.3, works fine with Seamonkey 2.11

 https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/

 Zanqeutil

But it is not needed as SM 2.11 has the ability to disable all compatibility
checking. Besides, that is not the problem. Many great extensions for Fx
will NOT work on SM. They will NOT install because none of them are
compatible with ANY version of SM. This is the reason so many users continue
using Fx mostly instead of SM. I have to have TabbedBrowsingExtensions 3 and
Google Sharing so that Google can't track my searches. These are ESSENTIAL
IMO extensions that work only on Fx. I have to switch from SM to Fx anytime
I want to search using Google. Plus, it is quite painful to not have TBE
anymore for SM. It was originally designed as the first extension for
Mozilla Suite browser back in 2001 or 2002 and I have used it ever since on
Mozilla Suite through the last version and then, of course, on Fx when it
was made available for Fx.

I don't use that many add-ons.

You are right but there are add-ons meant for Firefox
you can still use with Seamonkey, altough it warns it's incompatible like:

Not quite so simple, but close.

After installing both programs, the user can go into the Windows file
type options and set either one as the default for handling PDFs, and
that setting will overrule the order of installation.

But in the most common scenario, where the user doesn't take this
explicit action, you're right. Whichever one you install last will take
over by setting itself as the default handler for PDFs (unless, of
course, the advanced user deselects that option during installation).

When I had both installed, I had some really quirky behavior, and when I
ditched the Reader, things quieted down. Good advice.

The Windows file-type options will indeed control which application
opens a local PDF file. However, I found that those options were not
used by SeaMonkey. For a link to a PDF file on a Web server, SeaMonkey
somehow used the sequence in which the applications were installed.

I don't really know if this is still true. I have not installed Acrobat
(the writer) in over 6 years; I'm still using Acrobat 4.0, not wanting
to pay for an upgrade. On the other hand, I keep Adobe Reader current,
having installed Adobe Reader 10.1.3 earlier this year.

I currently get PDF links from Web servers opening in the Adobe Reader
plug-in, within a SeaMonkey window.

There *are* other full themes (not the lightweight Personas themes, I

You can find some of them here:

Also, the venerable Pinball theme is not on a.m.o., but it's still
compatible with Seamonkey and it's available on the author's site:

Between those, you might find something that fits your tastes.

youtube not working

2012-07-27 Thread Dave and Colette Hirsh
I figure that those that are saying it has something to do with the
flashplayer or shockwave plug in or add on are correct. When I say
youtube is not working I mean youtube is not working. I go to youtube
either through facebook or youtube and when I click on the video it says
an error occurred try again later. If you want an example I googled
youtube seamonkey and clicked on one about the seamonkey browser and it
didn't work meaning it said an error occurred try again later. Now
perhaps you guys know what you are talking about when you say there are
different versions of flashplayer and shockwave and there is one or an
old one that works with seamonkey and if I go to the adobe website I
can find it. Well I went to the adobe website and tried to download an
older version and some of these other websites that claim to allow you
to download older versions, but each time I try it says that there is a
newer version available and it links me to the newer version which
clearly doesn't work. Now I readily admit that if something on the
computer can't be done following the instructions I've been given it may
be my fault for not knowing how to fill in the gaps, or it may be the
instructions have not been idiot proofed. I am that idiot and I've
proven the instructions don't work. So if those who feel that I have
repeated this complaint that youtube is not working, for three weeks
now, there is a good reason for that. It has not been working for three
weeks and the instructions I've been given for getting it to work have
not gotten it to work. Now you can say that it is because I have not
given enough details about what I mean by not working and that is a fair
comment. What I mean is that when I go to youtube any video at all I
get the error that I should try again later. I've tried downloading
various versions of flashplayer and shockwave and they don't correct the
problem for either seamonkey or firefox. However IE is working. If I
diable the shockwave plugin or addon it tells me to check my plug in or
add before trying to run the video, and when I reenable it I get the
error message to try again later.

This may or may not be relevant, but here are some data points for you to
consider:

1) I have SeaMonkey 2.8 on Ubuntu Linux. (No Windows here)

2) If I use the default User Agent string, and go to youtube.com and
select any video, it plays just fine.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:11.0) Gecko/20120312 Firefox/11.0
SeaMonkey/2.8

3) If I use my User Agent spoofer, and pretend to be Internet Explorer 9
on Windows 7, I get nothing but the black space where a video should be,
and it just hangs. Spoofing as:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64;
Trident/5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET CLR 2.0.50727;
Media Center PC 6.0)

4) I too have the latest Flash and Shockwave, I believe, or at least
nearly current.

5) The exact same thing happens with Firefox browser. Spoofing as IE
doesn't work, but as the original Firefox, it works.

The fact that point 3 causes it not to work, just might indicate that it
isn't SeaMonkey's problem, but of Google/Youtube. What User Agent string
are you presenting?

Process Hacker did: http://i.imgur.com/JGyLK.gif ... I wonder if my
