Showing wrong icon

2014-09-09 Thread M van Ketel

I installed the new SeaMonkey version (v2.29) yesterday.
And since then the icon shown in my taskbar doesn't show the main
Seamonkey-icon, but it shows the mailnews-icon, even when I open just
the browser (not touching mailnews-part yet).

Are more people experiencing this?
Any ideas on fixing this? Or is it a bug?

 Mark

maybe a bug: sessionstore.json empty when session starts with DropBox link

2014-09-09 Thread Gabriel

Hello all,

today I had a problem because SeaMonkey was started following a link to a
shared folder on my DropBox menu, and it only showed one window with the shared
content and nothing else!
I usually have 6/7 windows, each with several tabs, but the sessionstore.json
file was blank.

I think this is a bug.
(hopefully I use TimeMachine, so I could revert to a previous session file)

Now that we can re-show the menubar by pressing the ALT key we /can/ now

So you'd have to be careful not to reveal the menubar when leaving full

Same here. I downloaded and installed 2.29 over 2.26.1 and mail just
sits there 'connecting to' on multiple accounts. I had loaded 2.29.b1
and used it for about 2 days with no problem. Reinstalled 2.26.1 which

Further investigation shows that the problem also exists in 2.29.b2.
Problem is not there in 2.2.b1.
Running Windows 7 (62bit) up-to-date.
Perhaps a change in some e-mail security patch causing the problem.

Ed, in my Linux set-up, I have Always ask selected for Bzip
archive,
Gzip archive and Zip archive file.

I expect the settings are the same for Win7, but will actually check
tomorrow.

Tonight I'm on Win7 using SM2.29b1 (I've already d/l'ed b2) and, as I
suspected...

1. At Edit - Preferences - Browser - Downloads, I have Always ask me
where to save files selected, and,
2. At Edit - Preferences - Browser - Helper Applications I have Bzip
archive, Gzip archive and Zip archive file types set to Always Ask.

Just in case, you know, you never know, I'll set Edit - Preferences -
Browser - Downloads to the other setting, close SM, and then tomorrow
I'll re-download Linux SM2.29b2 and hope it goes to the Download
folder,
then I'll reset to the Always Ask setting, re-boot SM and try
again.
;-(

Here I am, having re-boot SM and downloaded Linux SM2.29b2 again. This
time I had SM set up to save Downloads to the Download folder, which I
did *and* the Download Manager opened up, as it should, to
show me
the downloads progress.

Now I'll re-set to Always Ask and see what happens. :-)

Re-boot SM, went to
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/

and, sure enough, with the Always Ask pre-selected, I *did not*
get the second screen asking where I wanted to save the file, *nor*
did the Download Manager open up!!

Ho! Hmm!! Is there anyone else here that uses both Windows7 (WOW64)
and Linux (x86_64) and is willing to try downloading the Linux version
using their Windows7 version?? Q, maybe??

I had done this with my windows 7 pro 32 bits - User agent: Mozilla/5.0
(Windows NT 6.1; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 SeaMonkey/2.26.1
and i downloaded

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/seamonkey-2.29b2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2

with a single click, and i have the choice of the download directory.

Sorry, Ray, just to make it absolutely clear to me,

1. At Edit_Preferences-Browser-Downloads, under When saving a
file do you have Always ask me selected, and,

YES

2. When then clicking on the file link above, do you mean you got the
small window giving you the option to Open with . or to Save
File, and then selecting Save File, you get another small screen
asking where on your hard disk you want to save the file??

YES, and then YES also.

Well, why isn't my system doing that??? Grrr!! :-(

Thanks for trying, Ray

Close SeaMonkey, go into your profile folder and * rename *
'mimeTypes.rdf' to mimeTypes.rdf_bak. Restart SeaMonkey and then try the
link. You should then get the popup allowing you to select always ask.
In the newly created mimeTypes.rdf file you then should find an entry
similar to this:

detection system:

Junk processing must be well *trained* for it to work correctly. Training involves marking many
messages as junk and many messages as not junk. It is important to mark
*both types of messages*, both good and bad, not just the ones that are junk.

*Initially*, incoming messages might not be accurately junked because you have
not trained it enough.

 1. Check your Junk folder to see if any non-junk messages have been detected
as junk, and mark non-junk ones as not junk.
 2. Bayesian filtering requires at least 100 bad messages be marked as spam and
100 good messages marked as not junk to function. To work best, it needs a few
hundred of each marked.
  * If you mark a thousand spam messages but do not mark legitimate
messages, or very few, it won't work well.
  * It's best to mark *different types* of messages good and bad - marking
500 messages from the same source is not as good as marking 500 messages from
different people.

Mark, I have my Win7 SeaMonkey set up to open Mail and Chatzilla
(Edit-Preferences-Appearance ... When SeaMonkey starts up, open) and
that is what starts up for me when I click the desktop icon.

That's not the problem.
The only bug I see is it shows the wrong icon since last update.
Minor issue, still annoying though ;-)

When you have an autohide menubar it reveals itself when you press F10

So you'd have to be careful not to reveal the menubar when leaving
full screen mode.

Sorry, I still don't get it. When I'm in full screen, the menubar is hidden
and I can show it whenever I want by pressing Alt or Alt+V etc, and then I
autohide again, just exactly like I want to happen in windowed mode.
But when I go back to windowed mode, it reappears and it's always there.
How did you get it to hide after leaving fullscreen mode?
My browser has just told me there's version 2.29 available. Should I do
that do get this behaviour?

Ed, in my Linux set-up, I have Always ask selected for Bzip

Gzip archive and Zip archive file.

I expect the settings are the same for Win7, but will
actually check

tomorrow.

Tonight I'm on Win7 using SM2.29b1 (I've already d/l'ed b2)

suspected...

1. At Edit - Preferences - Browser - Downloads, I have Always
ask me

where to save files selected, and,
2. At Edit - Preferences - Browser - Helper Applications I
have Bzip
archive, Gzip archive and Zip archive file types set to
Always Ask.

Just in case, you know, you never know, I'll set Edit -
Preferences -

tomorrow

I'll re-download Linux SM2.29b2 and hope it goes to the Download
folder,
then I'll reset to the Always Ask setting, re-boot SM and try
again.
;-(

Here I am, having re-boot SM and downloaded Linux SM2.29b2
again. This
time I had SM set up to save Downloads to the Download folder,
which I

did *and* the Download Manager opened up, as it should, to
show me
the downloads progress.

Now I'll re-set to Always Ask and see what happens. :-)

Re-boot SM, went to
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/

and, sure enough, with the Always Ask pre-selected, I
*did not*

get the second screen asking where I wanted to save the file, *nor*
did the Download Manager open up!!

Ho! Hmm!! Is there anyone else here that uses both Windows7 (WOW64)
and Linux (x86_64) and is willing to try downloading the Linux
version

using their Windows7 version?? Q, maybe??

I had done this with my windows 7 pro 32 bits - User agent:
Mozilla/5.0
(Windows NT 6.1; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0
SeaMonkey/2.26.1

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/seamonkey-2.29b2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2

with a single click, and i have the choice of the download
directory.

   /RDF:Description
   RDF:Description RDF:about=urn:mimetype:handler:application/x-bzip
NC:alwaysAsk=true
NC:saveToDisk=true
 NC:externalApplication
RDF:resource=urn:mimetype:externalApplication:application/x-bzip/

NoOp, should I be worried that I don't have a 'mimeTypes.rdf' anywhere
on my Windows 7 hard drives?? Win7 Search screen is blank when I type
mim

I have this file in this directory:
C:\Users\RZ\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\ey8r9gln.default\

RZ is the user who log on windows after boot.
ey8r9gln.default is my profile
mimeTypes.rdf is the name of the file.

SM 2.29 Mac - Hung Folders; still broken.

2014-09-09 Thread Rufus
Bug 1018634 - SM 2.26 (Mac): Dragging Newsgroup Post to Local Folder
Hangs Folder until Restart - is still broken in SM 2.29 Mac.

This appears to be a carry over from Thunderbird, as it does the same
and worse as I have observed - bug updated.

Google Maps permit you some action when you Right-Click on a point

Disable or replace context menus (or dom.event.contextmenu.enabled =
true in about:config) -- This setting should solve your problem...

Or a work around is to right click then click, left or right, again
without moving the mouse pointer. That cancels seamonkey's popup and the
google menu is available. I like to keep seamonkey's right click on
pages like that yet still be able to use the websites 'features'.

Latest version SeaMonkey will not download any email/news

2014-09-09 Thread PhillipJones

Updated SeaMonkey to latest version 29.
After which all ability to download any email or news stopped.
Would sit there grinding try to find something to download.

I opened FireFox and went xfinity website and signed into email and show
16 pieces of email waiting to be read.

Closed Firefox. Reopened SeaMonkey again.
Manually click on Get Email.
Same thing just sit there, grinding but not finding anything.

Used Time Machine to go back just before new version installed and
restored old version.

Opened and mail download so fast I could barely see it download. (This
late at night my comcast connection is pretty decent.)

I might try again, if it does again I will restore back to this version
and forget it.

Using Mac Version.

Re: v2.29's addressbooks not sorting correctly in its Name column?

It appears that if you sort first on the e-mail address column the name

For me, nickname first and then the name. Is it me or is history also
affected too?
