Just a stab in the dark ... close SM. Rename prefs.js and prefs-1.js to prefs.js.bak and prefs-1.js.bak. Try the update. Also, do you have more than one profile? Thanks for the suggestion. In the browser mode, nothing changed after renaming the 'prefs' and 'prefs-1' files as you suggested. After doing this, the update still wouldn't load despite several system re-boots. In the e-mail mode, I was prompted to establish a new e-mail account, something I didn't do as I want to keep the existing profile, e-mail files, bookmarks, etc. This PC has two user accounts, each with their own passwords and both set up as 'administrator' accounts. Each user has their own SM profile and SM password. User 1's SM account has always worked fine and does not have an e-mail account. User 2's SM account has e-mail set up and is the one with the problem. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

The convention in this forum is bottom-posting, not top, thanks. And please prune if the previous message contains a lot of material not relevant to your post. kris.buel...@gmail.com wrote: I used MozBackup to copy "stuff" from my normal user profile to a new Seamonkey profile. The question to use this bypass thus is: what is in "general settings" as seen by MozBackup? It seems to me that if an add-on is not installed on the target computer, no amount of pointing to nonexistent files by SeaMonkey settings will help. The same with dll files. So if your source installation has Flash (to use an obvious example) and your target does not, copying the helper app settings and the dll will not enable the target computer to play Flash videos. You need to install the Flash app before restoring the source settings to the target computer. -- War doesn't determine who's right, just who's left. -- Paul B. Bo1953 wrote: Hello all, My challenge for today is, I decided to delete all, or as many as I could, msf files on my Win 8.1pro in SM 2.33.1 and the issues I now face include having now over 150 popstate files and on going duplicate emails being dl'ed. What is it I need to do now to delete the popstate's stop duplicate emails? I have tried using Duplicate email finder and that is not working at all, currently. TIA for your assistance in this matter. bo1953 Okay, what I finally wound up doing was to create a new profile and will save the old one as it has emails which have been deleted from my system, which is fine. My new question is: where do I find the password file so I can save them to the new SM location without having to save them all again? PW exporter does not work with SM 2.33.1.
