How many computers do you have connected to the same IMAP mail account?

Larry
___
At present I have one computer running Win 7 . I am trying to use Seamonkey for
both browsing and mail . As mentioned in previous posts I have been using the
Webmail interface to read / reply my mail on the ISP's mailserver. My mail has
piled up and the postmaster is after me to clear some space :-)
I would like to download all the mail (inbox/sent etc) to my computer and
delete all mail on the ISP's server. The ISP recommends using IMAP rather than
POP mail. I looked at the settings for mail in Seamonkey and the choices
confuse me. I hate to make the wrong choices and loose all that data.

Under Mail & News groups Account settings -> copies & folders->
When sending messages place a copy Sent Folder [1] folder on xxx @ shaw.ca or
[2] local folder

There are similar choices for message archives, drafts and templates but no
mention of inbox .

Under Mail & News groups Account settings ->synchronization & space , there is a place to
tick for "keep messages for this account on this computer" but nothing else .

So I am confused and concerned about messing things up :-)

I have 3 computers that I use for access to 1 IMAP account on 1&1
Internet ISP and I love that they are synchronized so that what is
deleted on one is deleted on all. But, I do have the problem of running
out of space on the server. Deleting the Trash helps but every once in
a while I have to clear out my Inbox.

Since you are using only 1 computer the easiest solution to "How do you
setup synchronisation with simultaneous deletion of the source?" is to
set up a POP mail account with your ISP in the mail client portion of
Sea Monkey.

Initially, set up POP to read but Leave Mail on server. Some eMails do
not allow this, yahoo comes to mind. Once you satisfy yourself that you
can delete from the POP mail Inbox on your computer, etc. without
deleting mail on your ISP's server and deleted mail from your ISP's
server has no effect on what has already been downloaded to your
computer you can set up POP mail to Delete Mail from the server as it is
downloaded.

I have POP mail accounts set up on all 3 of my computers but they are
not used and do not download until I am ready. When my ISP complains I
download into all POP accounts and then empty out my ISP IMAP Inbox and
trash folder. My choice is to empty out myself instead of letting the
3rd POP mail account Delete Mail from the server as it is downloaded.

Also, use [1]. Could not find: "->synchronization & space ."

Hope this helps.

Create a folder on your local system, for this example I will assume

/home/harsha/Documents/MyMailArchive

Then in SeaMonkey Mail go to the inbox select ALL the messages in the
index pane that you want to archive and right-click "Save As..." and
select the folder above and all emails will be saved as individual EML
files. Then you can delete away from your your inbox.

Take care,

If a folder in SM is synched with the IMAP server and you delete an
email on the computer it will be deleted from the server.

There are various other settings in Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings -

Duplicate Address Book Entries

2016-08-03 Thread Frosted Flake
I currently have only two address books in Seamonkey: "Collected
Addresses" and "Personal Address Book"

Each of those have many duplicated entries for people.

Under "Personal Address Book" I have created a number of Mailing Lists
that I want to use to organize my contacts.

That raises a few questions

1) When an entry is dragged to a mailing list under the "Personal
Address Book", where does it get taken from? Wherever it comes from,
that real email address has to remain there in order to remain in the
mailing list.

2) Can that email address be used in multiple mailing lists?

3) In either "Collected Addresses" or "Personal Address Book", there are
many duplicated entries. What is the simplest way to remove duplicates
before filling the contacts into the mailing lists?

4) Which of the two "Collected Addresses" or "Personal Address Book")
should be the source for the mailing lists under "Personal Address Book"?

5) If it is the "Personal Address Book", can I safely empty all the
email address in "Collected Addresses" after moving the ones of interest
into the "Personal Address Book"?

Questions above are in no particular order or priority.

My thought is to move all appropriate email address from "Collected
Addresses" to "Personal Address Book". Then eliminate all duplicates
from that list. Finally, populate the individual mailing lists from the
"Personal Address Book". Hopefully keeping only one copy of the actual
contact entry in the "Personal Address Book".

Does this even make any sense? :)

See this page:

It's for Thunderbird but it applies to SeaMonkey as well.

The last item is what you want:

"Archive some of your older mail. However, if you simply move them to
another folder on your IMAP server, you won't win back any space. To
resolve this, you need to set your "Archive" folder under your "Local
folders" account and not as a subfolder of your IMAP account. "

The "Local folders" are not synched with the IMAP server. So, if you
move messages from, say, the Inbox to Local folders, they will disappear
from the IMAP server.

SM 2.46 perf boost

2016-08-03 Thread TCW
I was just messing with the 2.46 beta from https://goo.gl/qcDsWv after
testing the 2.45 build from the same place. I did a Speed Battle test
with both. 2.45 scored, on average, around 850 on my lowly Latitude
E6410 i5 M560 with 8GB RAM. 2.46 scores, on average, 1225. If my math
is right, that's a 30.6% perf increase on the same hardware. Amazing!
