SeaMonkey 2.49.4

I have installed VideoLAN (VLC), RealPlayer, and Winamp.  When I select
a link to a audio or video file or stream, SeaMonkey selects one of
those according to the MIME type.  For MP4, that is VLC.

My daughter is a Mac user.  She really likes iTunes and claims that it
can handle any of the streams or files that my three applications
handle.  There is an iTunes version for Windows.

To me, the benefit of using an application in place of a browser
extension or an inherent capability of my browser is that, once the
application is playing a stream or file, my browser is no longer
involved.  This means I can switch back and forth between the three
SeaMonkey profiles that I frequently use without interrupting the music.

Read only mode

No change to Mac hardware or software (OS 10.11.6) since I last used Seamonkey 
but now when I open a file it opens in read-only mode. How do I enable editing?

it's own hand coded player (unlikely), or does it use a ready built 
player API?


My guess is that it's using Media Foundation (like Windows Media

I was focusing on  both giving similar "script busy" error message 
hinting to me that there might be a bug in code common to nominally 
unrelated tasks.

Dartmouth BASIC, I'm no software expert but have >50 years of general 
trouble shooting experience and general customer service.

Thank you for you help in this matter. Deleting the webappsstore.* files 
and letting SM recreate them has solved my problems with Data Manager. 
With that resolved I was able to go in and delete cookies and cache and 
set permissions for the wUnderground.com site. This seems to have 
cleared my issue with wUnderground.com.

That's why I mentioned that there was a similar _SYMPTOM_ in a nominally 
unrelated sub-system. I've a gut feel there is a problem in how Mozilla 
uses sqlite. [ *CAVEAT LECTOR* The last time I used a database was with 
dBaseII circa late 70's ;]

Can't you use Ubuntuzilla with Debian?


For multiple reasons I do not want anything other than official Debian 
references in my sources.list file.
