How can I change this to Firefox. My standard browser is Firefox under
win 10 already

I am using Open With v6.8.6 addon/extension in my SeaMonkey so I can
view web pages in external Firefox, IE11, etc. However, I couldn't find
a version that will work with old SeaMonkey.
https://github.com/darktrojan/openwith doesn't install due to SM
incompability. Maybe someone has a SM compatible version XPI file for us?

Seeing Messages Texts on the Screen

2020-04-16 Thread Frog
I am unable to see the text or messages on the newsgroup. I can see the
titles of messages and when I click on a message, I see this message:

Launch ApplicationX
This link deeds to open with an application.
Send to:
Pick an app
Choose
___Remember my choice for news liks.
Cancel Open link

Why is this suddenly showing up on my screen? I have always simply
clicked on the subject line of a message and it automatically opened in
a new window. Isn't opening mail in SeaMonkey a programmed part of the
mail system?

I don't know whether I will be able to open your response ... I hope so
as I am having some problems with my computer. Once I cure this
problem, I will be seeking help with my other problem(s).

On a case-by-case basis, you can right-click the link, choose "copy
link," and paste that into your preferred browser. This works if only
some sites are giving you trouble.

Others have already answered on how to establish a general policy.

Hi Steve,
If you click on a link in SeaMonkey mail and newsgroups, it will open in
the SeaMonkey browser, regardless of what your system default is set to.
SeaMonkey is hard-coded to do that.

Steve, I know there is a way of doing what you want by adjusting one of
SeaMonkey's preferences.

In the SeaMonkey Browser, enter "about:config" (without the quotes!) in the
address bar, accept the warning, then, in the Search: Bar, enter "external"
and locate the preference "browser.link.open_external", click on that.

I *think* this is the preference you need to adjust if not, I'm sure
someone will drop by to shoot me down!! ;-P

To find out what to set the 'value' to have a read/look at
http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries, specifically
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_external

If you still have problems, do come back here!

You can add an external protocol handler which will not work 100% / for all
cases. Many internal calls would need to be changed and this will not happen
in this life.
