Re: best version

Not if that version has publicly known exploits that have been patched in the next version. The wise man does not rush. Unfortunately, this isn't really true for security updates, and often is followed to the point of exaggeration. See: Conficker infections. Unfortunately, most of these answers don't address my underlying question. Are the newer versions of Seamonkey backwards compatable with my older version of Windows (Win2kpro)running on outdated hardware? Also, do they hog resources the way that newer versions of windows do? In other words, my old PIII-900 with 256 megs of RAM runs Win2K pretty well, but I suspect it would bog down under XP, which is one reason I've not upgraded. But at this point it is also tying me back to legacy versions of some software and I'm wondering if Mozilla/Seamonkey falls into that category. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
best version
Is the current version of SeaMonkey compatable with older systems? My P3-900 with win2k has Mozilla 1.7.3 installed along with plugins for Flash, Shockwave, Adobe Reader, Realplayer, Quicktime and Flashblock, Mozilla Calendar 200502-cal, . It's worked well for many years, but I'm finding it won't render many newer webpages properly. Would the current version of SeaMonkey work on this system? If not which version would be best? ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Right side menu below left side content
On this page, http://brandywinebooks.net there is a right hand menu that gets pushed down to the bottom of the page, still on the right hand side, but beginning below the left side content. It displayed properly until a couple of weeks ago when the site was down for a couple of days. It's doing this on both my home computer (Seamonkey 1.1.7) and my office computer (Mozilla 1.7.3). Is this a Mozilla/SeaMonkey rendering issue or a webpage coding issue? ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

According to the webmaster for the site I was accessing, (http://www.yourqfm.com/)it doesn't autoplay in IE but it does in Mozilla/Seamonkey. He said, "he streaming component we are using at this point is a windows media player based plug-in, of course made by Microsoft. Mozilla doesn’t interpret the full feature set of the plug-in as Internet Explorer does. It is set to not auto play and does work with Internet Explorer just fine, but Mozilla doesn’t understand that option." ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Pdf plugin handling
When I get a pdf attachment and double click it in the attachment window, I'd like it to open in an external reader window or in a new seamonkey window. Currently it opens in my most recently used tab, replacing whatever content was there. PDF links from web pages open in a new tab or window, but attachments confiscate an existing tab. My settings are to open external links in a new window, but for some reason that doesn't control pdf attachments in the mail portion of seamonkey.
