Re: [Bug 452232] Move LDAP autocomplete over to toolkit interfaces
On 11/16/2012 5:08 AM, Neil wrote: Onno Ekker wrote: Is it "only" a matter of moving the code to toolkit interfaces and are there no functional changes in the LDAP autocomplete? Sadly it's not that simple; rather than tweaking the existing autocomplete code we've gone for rewriting it in JavaScript. We've had a basic implementation working for some time but it only filtered on a hard-coded query; the recent change allows it to use a user-defined query, like the current code does. in tat case, probably even more important to have targetted testing. On 11/15/2012 5:19 AM, Neil wrote: The code for this has been landed in the tree but hasn't yet been switched on. Is it worth releasing a try build with the code enabled so that interested people can test it before it works its way to them through the normal channels? (Do we even know how many people use LDAP autocomplete?) I would think tons of people. But not the average home and small business users of course. IMO can't hurt to have a try build (with a "working well" Thunderbird daily) and publicise it for testing. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Ugh sounds like either they mistook the whitelist here, or your auto-update by them didn't go fast enough. We should know that answer beforehand. Thank you, Joe What's this doing in the SeaMonkey group?? Sure we're waiting on TB 3.0 to be finalized before SM 2.0 will be outed, but really!! Daniel There is consisderable shared code between the two. Plus several SM 2.0 features/functions actually depend upon the TB code, so it's to everyone's advantage to help testing both TB & SM 2. Note: I'd asked the same previously some time ago :-) Indeed, many Thunderbird people have helped in Sm bugs and strongly supported SM. So discouraging cross supporting and testing is not a good idea. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: SeaMonkey 2 and Thunderbird 3
On 6/9/2009 9:30 AM, David Wilkinson wrote: Robert Kaiser wrote: Yes, it is, we cannot release a stable SeaMonkey release without a stable mail/news backend, which we only will have once Thunderbird 3 goes into at least RC phase. That said, we'll have a first beta of SM2 in the next few weeks, a second beta a few weeks later and then a final another few weeks later. We should be on the way now and pick up a good drive towards final. It's a bit unfortunate that the duration between Alpha 3 and Beta 1 grew significantly longer than expected, but things should be moving more smoothly from now on. Unfortunately I can't talk in real schedules right now, as there's one large feature for the mail backend (indexing all data to allow for fast and easy search across all messages and addresses) is being worked on still, and that feature is what's pushing out Thunderbird and SeaMonkey beta release dates right now. Robert: Thanks. Will this indexing get rid of the annoying feature where a cross-posted news message that is read in one group is not seen as read in another? David, Gloda indexing will have no impact on newsgroup crosspost handling. The crosspost bug has gotten no traction in TB3, so I doubt we well see this in the next version unless some kind soul steps up to provide a patch. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Operation 2 for 1 - celebrating one year of Thunderbird bugday - day 2
Happy Birthday! Check out the chart on the birthday blog at http://quality.mozilla.org/story/one-year-thunderbird-bugdays To celebrate the first year of weekly bugdays for Thunderbird we are organizing a two day bugday (both on a Thursday) with a very special rule - *an incentive*. If you come and participate to the bug day and update at least two bugs we will assist you on one of your *mail-related* bugs (giving it triage love - trying to find a solution or a workaround for the bug). The first day will be running this Thursday, 2009-04-02! Now is the perfect time to join the Thunderbird QA team as Thunderbird 3.0 is approaching. You'll be participating in making sure that 3.0 becomes the best release of Thunderbird - *you'll feel that the program you use daily is a bit more yours*. The team has posted detailed instructions on what needs to be done, where to get help, and bugs that need attention at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:QA_TestDay:2009-04-02 and there is an "Attend Event" link at http://quality.mozilla.org/events/2009/apr/02/operation-2-1-celebrating-one-year-thunderbird-bugday-day-2 (note, due to a bug, the date is incorrectly listed as April 1.
