Yes, it might be possible to do that; it also might destabilize the system.
So before investigating something like that, I was trying to get confirmation
that gcc 4.2 is actually required for linux versions of SeaMonkey 2.8.
(It's always possible that the error message I'm getting is bogus and that
something else is actually wrong.)
