I understand AM-Deadlink does not support directly the Places database.
It might be possible to use it with an exported bookmarks.html.
However,
changes to bookmarks.html won't be imported back automatically into
Places.

McBastos, I, too, used to think that AM-Deadlink did not work with the
places-sqlite file (the updated bookmarks plus file), but I updated
(some time ago) and found that the later versions of AM-Deadlink *do*
work!!

Yes, the SQL files are supported, otherwise I would not have suggested
it.

But you can not edit the results-right?

Correct. From the AMD Help file:

AM-DeadLink can only read and check Firefox bookmarks, it's not possible
to delete bookmarks directly from the Firefox database. To delete dead
bookmarks from Firefox, you have to do this directly within Firefox.
This restriction is required to avoid possible conflicts with the
Firefox bookmark database (or also future changes to the Firefox
bookmark database).

Possible work around:

AM-DeadLink also supports the old Firefox 2.x bookmark file format. You
can export your Firefox bookmarks to a bookmarks.html file, open and
change it in AM-DeadLink and re-import the bookmarks into Firefox.

Don't know, haven't used the new AM-Deadlink file much!

Hmm!! How about . export your bookmarks as a html file, carry out
the AM-Deadlink search, if it finds any links dead - delete that
bookmark from the html file, then import the edited html file back into
the bookmarks file.

Here's what SeaMonkey Help says:

You can also set SeaMonkey to check bookmarked websites for
  changes.

Open the Bookmarks menu and choose Manage Bookmarks.
In your Bookmarks window, click a bookmark.
  Click Properties.
Use the pull down lists and the textfield under Check this location
for updates to specify how often you want SeaMonkey to check the
bookmarked page for changes.
To be notified when the bookmarked page changes, choose from the
options

in the Notification section.

But I can't see any pull down lists. I that me being a retard, or the
feature has been really removed from SM?

Automatic checking for bookmarked sites updates

2013-04-03 Thread Ilya

Hello, guys

Earlier versions of Seamonkey (1.x, probably) had a feature that allowed
users to automatically check for bookmarked sites updates, every X
minutes from Y am to Z pm. (Technically that was done by sending HTTP
HEAD requests, afair).

I can't find the feature now (using Seamonkey 2.17). Where is it, why it
has it been removed(?) and are there any alternatives?

Thanks.
