Re: Can't view email forwarded as attachment

2009-03-30 Thread navoff
A little update. I recently got an email from someone that had the
problem mentioned previously. In my webmail interface, I forwarded the
email to my work address. From there, I forwarded the attachment back
to myself using Outlook. I was able to view the attachment in
Seamonkey with no problem. So I decided to compare the two versions of
the email to see if I could figure out what was so different between
them.

In the email that didn't display correctly, it included the following
code for all parts of the message:

   Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

In the email that worked, There were two. For ASCII text sections, it
had:

   Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

For the binary sections of the email it had:

Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

Since the problem appears to be that Seamonkey (and Thunderbird)
aren't recognizing the content type, it makes me think that this is
somehow to blame. Also, since the problem is recent, it makes me think
that something has changed on my computer that interprets the settings
in the email. If anyone has a clue as to what that might be or how to
repair the problem, feel free to share.

 try View, Display Attachments Inline

Otherwise, its a known problem that stems from the
person email program, probably they're using OE or
 something MS based.

Nope. I'm having problems from someone sending me email from
Thunderbird.

Have seen that problem also with TB and IMAP.
Just moving the message to a local folder fixed my 'problem'.

Tried that. It didn't work. So far, I can only view the offending
emails from
the web interface, not from SeaMonkey. It's quite annoying because I
hadn't
been having a problem until about a week ago. Even turning off my
firewall
(ZoneAlarm Pro v. 8.0.059) and virus protection (Shield Deluxe 2009)
didn't
change the behavior (they were some of the first things I'd checked).
FWIW,
I'm also running Windows XP SP3.
