Try making some change (any change, replace a character with itself) and then try again. That would have been sufficient up until recently but Composer is gradually becoming less useable. This is sufficiently annoying to me that I am running an old version of Seamonkey on an internal network where I frequently update html pages. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

There is some people still using it. I suspect that, in fact, it is more work than benefit to pull it out :-) I use it myself for occasional tasks. It is not best thing on Earth, but for simple tasks, it does the job. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Smithy, is it possible that a lot of the programming used to compose/construct an HTML webpage is also needed to compose an HTML e-mail, so any saving in removing the Composer program might be minimal?? -- Daniel User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:35.0) Gecko/20100101 SeaMonkey/2.32 Build identifier: 20141218225909 or User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 SeaMonkey/2.33 Build identifier: 20150215202114 ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Work-around, probably, fix, no, because Composer isn't supported any longer. I've found that when working in Composer, Find (with or without Replace) is a little cranky, and it takes clicking on the text area, and making sure that it's in focus, before I can use Find. Most of the time, that works, and the procedure is the same in all the tabs. I don't believe that it's platform-specific. I've always been puzzled as to why the SM developers continue to include the Composer, if it's not supported. Maybe it's more work than benefit to pull it out. Over the last year or so, I've finally shifted to using the stand-alone Komposer, after Seamonkey updates disrupted use of the Composer once too often. I don't know if there's any current maintenance of Kompozer (last release is 2010), and I believe that the most current Gecko HTML editor is Blue Griffon, but even that one was last updated in 2013. With Kompozer, I know that it produces cleaner HTML than the Composer does, and Kompozer's usage procedure is nearly identical to what I've become used to in the Composer. By contrast, there's a few extra UI tweaks in Blue Griffon that I find uncomfortable to use. In my experience, the only thing that I lose by using Kompozer over the Seamonkey Composer is the convenience of using Ctrl-E to open the Composer, when I'm viewing a page or document in Seamonkey. With an external editor, I have to either navigate to a file, select and use "open with" (in Windows), or open Kompozer, and then select which file I want to edit. That's a minor annoyance that I can live with. And in the context of the original question, Kompozer's search/replace works more the way that you would expect it to.
